Why won't EAS towers stop beeping?

Hello,
I purchased a set of eas towers online (used). Installed them a couple of months ago and they worked fine. Now they have started to go off for no reason and will not stop beeping. Not sure what to do.
Anybody have any info on this problem?

Hi Terry
There could be any number of issues. If you posted the make an model it might be more helpful.
Normal problems are:
Loss of power;
Loss of communication;
Out of alignment;
Defective sensor(s);
Competing signals (wireless models); and
Tampering.

EAS = Electronic Article Surveillance; the anti-theft towers that you walk through at most department and electronic stores.
