Hello, I have a small kitchen in a condo in Edmonton, AB.
Its made of two parallel walls, each one about 8ft.
Wanted to get an idea on how much would it cost to hire someone to tear down the cabinets and take the dishwasher, extractor and fridge away (I am only keeping the stove)

Hi Rafael,
Short answer: $2,000.00
A small kitchen with about 10 cabinets will take roughly 4 hours to demo:
1 hour to put up a containment and protection
1 hour to move appliances and disconnect MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
1 hour to remove cabinets
1 hour to clean up
With a 2 person crew, 4 hours may cost anywhere between $500.00 and $1,000.00 ; here's the breakdown for hourly charges - if it's done correctly and to code:
Electrician: $100.00/ hr x 1 hr = $100.00
Plumber: $100.00/ hr x 1 hr = $100.00
Labourx2: $100.00/hr x 4 hr = $400.00
Each one of these trades will charge a markup for profit, let's say 50%. So $600.00 x 50% = $300.00 for a total cost of $900.00.
Materials will cost between $200.00 and $300.00 and a disposal could cost at most $500.00.
Liberally, the cost to demo a kitchen starts at $1,700.00. But realistically it can be much higher depending on site location and conditions. In the case of condos and multi unit dwellings, it's safe to add a contingency of 15%. And don't forget about taxes.
Hope this helps,
Dan
I am in Edmonton. www.piscescarpentry.com. I will do it for $1,600 (demo, disposal, cap off any lines)
Thanks for the replies.
The quote that I got from a company that came on-site was 1400. Pretty close to the estimates provided here.
