o Installation?
We know that the city requires permits so I need to know if we apply for them or if the contractor applies for them. Also, we are willing to purchase the carpet and laundry/bathroom tiles if that would be cheaper. We are purchasing the gas fireplace and mantle which will need to be installed into the corner. We are open to any new ideas or suggestions. I have posted a rough drawing of the space that I have created with some design software.
Our upper basement is approximately 21'x12'. It is frames with metal studs and the builder has done the insulation, though I do not know if it is up to code for a finished room. We need to have electrical outlets installed. The electrical wiring overhead lights needs to modifided as one of the lights is not run to a switch. We will not be adding any additional lighting. The room needs to be drywalled and we would like a drywalled ceiling as well. There is one window and two doorways to trim as well as baseboard. The floor is unfinished and we are considering carpet, hardwood, and laminate.
We are looking for an estimate to finish the room with any of the options listed.
Hello,
We would like to get estimates for putting up a new wall (with door framed in) to create a new room in our currently open-plan basement.
We'd like to know if the wall can be framed and drywalled without lifting all of the existing flooring (laminate). Is it possible to cut the required space for the framing with the flooring in place? We don't intend replacing the floor yet - so this will dictate whether we go ahead with the project now - which we'd really like to - or if we have to wait until we are ready to do the flooring, too.
We'd like to have a framed door opening, and we'd like to hang a barn style door.
We also have a small alcove that we'd like to turn into a closet.
In summary:
(1) new wall - framed, drywalled, taped, mudded, ready for paint.
(2) Closet front - framed, drywalled, door frame installed in trimmed, door hung
Photos of the space attached.
Could you provide an estimate for the cost of that work?
Could you also indicate how long such a job would take? Can it realistically be completed in 3 days? We have a window November 15th - 17th which would be ideal for us to have the work done but I have no idea if that’s realistic or not.
Thank you for your time! Let me know if I’ve missed any important info.

Require a contractor to complete the creation of a legal duplex in our walkout basement. Work required would be some plumbing ( replacing drain pipe in basement ceiling), tile work for (approx 80 sq. Ft.)bathroom floor, flooring/ subfloor installation for approx 900 sq ft., fireproofing ceiling in furnace room (54 sq ft.), installing approximately 3 to 4 doors with 1 door needing framing as well. Thank you for your time, look forward to hearing from you.
Freehold townhouse completed in 1998. Has no basement, the lowest level is at ground level. Looking to put up drywall on 2 walls and ceiling. Need some electrical for lighting and extra outlets. Needs good underpad and stain resistant carpet. Needs baseboards, trim and a couple of doors. We have a possibly idea for a small bar .. we will consult with the contractor if its advisable or not.
The area is clean, studded and ready to be worked on. Easy access to bring in materials from the garage. This can be a very quick and easy job for someone. Probably doable in 2 days tops.
We also have a bathroom skink that needs replacing.
We have a 13 year old detached home. The basement is insulated floor to ceiling but it isn't finished in any other way. We would like to finish about 2 thirds of the basement and leave the rest as storage.
There would be 3 doors to access the storage part as it may eventually be finished into 3 separate rooms. The finished area would be one open space.
We would be looking carpeting the stairs, carpeting the basement floor, walls, trim, ceiling, lighting etc. Although we have a rough-in for a bathroom, we would like to leave that as part of the storage area at this time.
In the attached picture, the camera is in the part we would like finished - everything from the second pole to the far wall would be a walled-off storage room.
Hey there,
We have an unfinished basement with about 925 sq. ft. to be finished.
We are looking for a 3 pc. bathroom, and apart from that just basic finishes to finish the rest of the basement space with little additional special things added.
We are looking to start around the beginning of October, and are located in South West Kitchener.
Thanks,
Josh
