I have recently moved into a renovated house at Bloor and Christie. The duct that is currently installed in the double brick interior wall is too small and in the wrong location for the range hood we have purchased. We need a new, 6 inch duct installed in the centre of the wall space over the gas range and then we would like the hole for the old duct filled in with brick (we have the extra bricks). We would then like to have the range hood installed.
If you are interested, please let us know an estimate for the work. It may be a small job but we are likely to have more work in the future (backyard deck to be built, basement to be finished, roofing work in the spring). We would be a great long term customer if we're satisfied with the work.

- downtown toronto, old building, bloor-spadina. there is a shed connecting the main building to the coach-house. the parapet wall is disintegrating. also, the exterior wall of my kitchen has the insul-brick falling off, and there are probably issues with insulation generally. I'm sorry, I can't offer a better, more professional description. I also imagine that a lot of contractors aren't interested in this sort of "problem" - too old, too unusual, too too, but I sure hope somebody can help.
Scope of work:
Exterior building coating with Belzona 5122 on three (3) residential/commercial condominiums located in the Beaches sector in Toronto and are as per listed above (including approximated areas to be coated):
Belzona 5122 Clear Cladding Concentrate is a masonry treatment which is in the form of an aquious penetrating liquid which, when applied to a porous surface, forms an invisible micro porous water repellent barrier within the substrate.
We would like to resurface the front of our brick home with limesstone veneer, mouldings and accent bricks.
We have a 1200 square foot solid brick bungalow with single attached garage and open porch approximately 12 feet long and 6 feet deep with two steps. There are two small windows approximately 3 feet high by 4 feet in front (bathroom and kitchen). We would like someone to come out and give us a quote.
Thank you,
Kathleen
One set of double patio doors has a five foot brick arch above which has been cracked for years and seems to be settling even more. The walls are double brick so approximately nine inches thick. I want to replace the arch, which is failing, with one or two steel lintel beams.
The front entrance has an archway approximately four feet across in the same condition.
Sometime before we bought, eight years ago, the owners had the cracked and settling arches fixed with grout or other mortar and it seems to have worked but over the past few years I have noticed a gradual deterioration.
The house is 80 years old and should be tuck pointed as well.
Project #1:
Dig along the 30 ft wall to foundation footing. Inspect and patch where needed with cement.
Pour a 2' run of cement along the footing and place weeping tile. (Drain is already provided)
Sealproof the side before burying. ( maybe petroleum base and plastic )
Provide some barrier to prevent neighbor's ground water from draining into my land. Or Rplace the sand & stone
top with a clayey material to allow time for drainage.
Parge (3/4 " min) 4 ft strip along the length.
( will consider advice )
Replace some red bricks and tuckpoint some areas.
Lift chimney (6 ft showing x 16" x 16") another 2 ftt (or replace it with newer bricks.)
I need a contractor/brick layer/ masonary individual to do a small project to make holes for the hvac and fire supression system for our restaurant.
The height of where the holes need to be are around 9ft high so no need for renting any boom lifts or scissor jacks.
The measurements of the holes are the following (all holes will need lintel support)
30"x14" for the kitchen exhaust fan
30"x20" for the make up air system
12"x12" for the mini make up air system
8"x8" for the washroom exhaust.
Images attached from the floor plan
Its cinder block for 4 holes. For the project you will need to make the holes, patch them up after the kitchen exhaust guys install their equipment and than dispose of the brick/concrete/waste.
All contractors entering the building will need wsib and general liability.
Tuck pointing needed in several areas along (mostly) upper portion of 2 storey building's east side. Also there are several spalled bricks near the top at the south end. The building is a two-story storefront. The wall is approximately 25 feet across and only accessible via neighbors' backyard. Please note: neighbors are very accommodating and will not impede access. Both scaffolding and ladders will be needed. The only other issue is that there is a storage shed right against the wall which might be a concern for scaffold.
I have 3 faces of wall wrapping around my garage with a balcony on top of the garage. On the 3 faces which measures approximately 10x20x10, the top 10 rows of mortar are crumbling and about a half dozen bricks as well.
Just wondering what a ballpark estimate would be for a job of this size.
Thanks!
We have noticed damage to our plaster in our livingroom which has been caused (we think) by water coming from the gaps in the mortar between the bricks. We need to have the tuckpointing repaired before further damage. All four exterior walls are accessible. It is important that all new mortar matches the old.
