We have 47 stairs split between 3 levels. The stairs & risers are carpeted; the wooden banister is stained (DIY by previous owner), the railings are iron and the stringer is pine with urethane (builders basic).
The issue is that the banister and stringer colours do not match in the slightest.
How much would it cost to get the stringers stained?
It's an 80 year-old house with the original stair railings -- wooden hand rail, wooden post, wooden spindles. The previous owners painted the whole thing white. I'd like to strip all the paint off. The end goal will be to stain the hand rail and the post, and to again paint the spindles white (but now they are thickly and terribly painted)
I'd like to preserve them but if that's completely undoable then I'll consider replacing the railing, the post, the spindles -- the whole thing. So that's another option I'd like an estimate on.
I'd like to consider both options: price, difficulty, how long, etc.
Also we need this done as soon as possible.
We are looking for someone to paint the spindles, trim/baseboards, railings and posts of the stairway in our 85-year old semi.
It is currently painted, but not well. We have given it a sand - it might need a little more sanding, followed by a coat of zinsser and a coat of paint (which we have).
Regarding the railing, it is currently stained but not in great shape. We would either like to re-stain it or paint it out white depending on what would look best. We're open to your opinion on this one.
The stairs do not need to be painted - the carpet is being replaced so the carpet will be removed for painting and new carpet will be put down (which should make the edges much easier).
We'd like to have this done asap and would appreciate quotes based on the photos if possible.
Thanks.
Nothing exciting, just need the upper half of a store front prepped and painted. It is peeling paint on old brick, needs to be scraped down to the brick and then repainted. Maybe 100-150 square feet on the second floor.
The work is pretty obvious if you see it. The main floor is going to be re-done soon, but the top will need some work.
Happy to hear from whoever is interested.
Hello,
We're seeking a contractor to strip the paint from a red brick Victorian era townhouse (14ft wide property). There is also a plaque that says "Berry's Terrace" that would need to be carefully stripped (see image). Looking for someone with experience at doing this.
Thank you,
Craig

Hello
I have a tin ceiling in my kitchen that could have been there since the house was built in 1908, it has been painted over several times but it now needs to be stripped of the old paint, primed and painted again. I need the tin crown and ceiling old paint removed (it can't be scraped off as it will scratch the Tin I am guessing some kind of chemical will have to be used to remove the paint...but what ever is used can't damage the finish of the tin). Currently there are big flakes of paint peeling from the ceiling that can be peeled off but the rest will have to be removed some other way. The ceiling measures around the narrowest part (area of cabinets) measures 57 inches wide by 125 inches long whereas the widest part measures 94 inches wide by 117 inches long. Can you please provide an estimate for this job (it is in Toronto), which includes the removal of the old paint, prime and painting of the ceiling and trim (all in Tin).
thanks

My 3-level townhome has bay-like exterior section at the front, from ground to roof. The wood trim on various areas of this exterior is rotting. I'd like to have the damaged trim removed, the underlying checked for any unseen damage, necessary repairs to be done, and replace the wood trim with PVC and repaint to match. I also have 3 mouldings at each level that need repainting in the same colour. Also, there is an identical moulding above my front door that needs repair (the corner was chipped off by falling ice) and repainting. I can provide the paint, but I hope that you would be able to provide all other materials.
I am looking for work related to a sidesplit bungalow in north york.
2 separate projects:
1) painting the entire interior of the house. - total square feet is apprximately 1720. an estimate, with or without providing paint would be appreciated. it will be an empty house.
2) 2 complete bathroom renovations
a) re doing a washroom - new tile, vanity, toilet, tub, everything - no major plumbing (anticipated- but who knows)
b) turning a powder room into a washroom with a shower by expanding into a closet directly next to it.
-I anticipate using medium quality materials as I will be living in the house with my family, but can't afford top of the line. i'm looking for quality workmanship.
Requirements: painting to be completed between december 21, 2012 and january 15, 2013. If you're not available for this time, please do not reply.
The washrooms can be done on an ongoing basis through january and february and later, if necessary.
Please reply with specific comments with respect to the job: i.e. if you just say you're a contractor interested in the "posting", i probably will not reply.
All contractors must be prepared to provide 2 recent references, proof of insurance for them and all subcontractors. A designer may be involed, so you will need to be able to work well with others.
I can provide pictures of the interior of the house as well as dimensions if you need further information before providing a rough estimate. I have limited buyers visits before I get the house and will do narrowing down based on quality of the replies i receive.
I'm hoping someone can be of assistance.
