2012 built- new house
Currently a concrete basement, but looking to finish the basement using roughly the original home builders suggested plans for the basement development. This includes:
-18'-1" x 15'-4" -family room
-approx 4' x 6' - 3 piece bathroom with vanity, toilet, stand up shower
-additionally a small laundry room or as the suggested plans say a closet added to the bathroom just big enough for a washer and dryer (not stacked)
-medium quality carpet throughout family room and down the stairs
-medium quality tile or linoleum in bathroom / laundry room
Would like a rough quote that includes entire costs of basement development including bathroom fixtures, plumbing, framing, insulation, drywall, trim, electrical, flooring, ceiling, painting, lighting, labor, etc. Assume medium quality everything (paint, flooring fixtures, etc).
Thanks!
We are looking to develop the basement of our condo in Saskatoon. It is approximately 700 sq feet. What we are looking for is to enclose the furnace/laundry area. and the remainder of the basement would be a rumpus room. Additional electrical outlets are required plus additional lighting.
Need project to be completed by September 1, 2012
Undeveloped basement in Sutherland, approximately 600 sq ft. Looking to turn into rental suite (legal if possible), so mid-tier materials at best, more concerned about practicality of suite. Currently setup with drywalls for two small bedrooms with no closets, looking to turn into one bedroom with closet. Also trying to downsize washroom space to enlarge kitchen (shares same wall), which would likely require moving some plumbing and potentially some cement work. Have hand sketched layout of current basement layout and what I think would be the desired layout (open to recommendations).
Brand new home (ready in approx 1 - 2 months) 2-storey home with undeveloped basement. Requires framing, wiring, insulating, drywalling and ceiling install. 12 x 12 bedroom and a 15x25 family room. No bathroom at this time. No flooring at this time as we want to wait for spring to do this. Will do paint ourselves.
We're in a 5-year old condo on the edge of Briarwood and we're looking to finish our undeveloped basement. The development will be a simple layout, with a main family room, a furnace room and a laundry/bathroom with a bathtub (alternatively a half wall of tile with an upper half of glass blocks, but in any case, the plumbing is roughed in for a tub and we don't want the additional expense of moving the drain). We are located on an end unit, so one wall is completed (rough, of course). We're undecided as to whether to go with a suspended ceiling or drywall, as the decision is cost dependant. I've attached a couple of rough drawings/layouts - would it be possible to get a very rough idea of cost prior to having someone by for a more formal estimate? With the final estimate, we're going to want a cost for the complete job with materials and labor, as well as a seperate quote only up to the completion of drywall (complete taping/ mudding/ painting/ flooring ourselves). My wife and I are both former hardware and building materials retail people, so although we have the basic know-how and could complete it ALL ourselves, we have 2 kids under three and we're faced with the reality that know-how or not, lack of real experience coupled with the kids being around might make this a life-long project!
I guess the last question is with regard to timing - I know contractors in the city are in high demand right now, so is my project something that I could organize in fairly short order, or am I likely looking to September before I can find someone...? How long would something this size take?
We are ready to begin development of our basement in our 2 year old home. We want 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, laundry, storage, and we would like the rest open for entertainment room. Our home is a modified bi-level and the upstairs is 1265sq feet. We are hoping to start soon and would love to hear some quotes. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
Half of our basement is finished, we would like to beging finishing the other half in the spring. we would need 2 bedrooms framed in insulated and wired, at least one bedroom finished with drywall and carpet. Possibly frame in bathroom, but our budget may not fit bathroom finishing. If able, contractor may also be asked to provide an estimate for building a deck as well. the laundry and furnace room would not need anything other than framing. Our total home is about 1200 sq feet, and half of the basement is done. Our house was completed in 2006. We are currently waiting on the builder to make a repair before starting finishing.
Currently my basement is unfinished. I would like to get it finished. I would like walls put up and possibly spray insulation. I am thinking of having 1 bedroom/office downstairs. It is roughly 1200 sq ft, but could be wrong. I have an electrician already, just need someone to install the walls and get it finished.
I am the owner of the house.
If you need more info or would like to see where this project is let me know.
Thanks!
2012 built- new house
Currently a concrete basement (836 Sq.ft), but looking to finish the basement using roughly the original home builders' suggested plans for the basement development. This includes:
-A family room
- A bathroom with just a toilet
-additionally a small laundry room or as the suggested plans say a closet added to the bathroom just big enough for a washer and dryer (not stacked)
-Medium-quality carpet throughout the family room
-medium quality tile or linoleum in bathroom/laundry room
Would like a rough quote that includes the entire costs of basement development including bathroom fixtures, plumbing, framing, insulation, drywall, trim, electrical, flooring, ceiling, painting, lighting, labor, etc. Assume medium quality everything (paint, flooring fixtures, etc).
Thanks!
It is a new home. Three piece bath, 1 bedroom, laundry room, open entertainment area. Basement studs for walls are up, most electrical work is done, some insulation work has been started, most materials are bought and we have a plumber already. Work needed to be done: 2 closets, 2 floor to ceiling shelves in laundry room, insulating, dry walling, mudding, taping, baseboards, and 3 doors.
Site: The concrete walls of abasement of a duplex built in 1968. (so there are 3 walls to insulate). The north-west side has two windows, both have a crack. I've seen moisture in the wall at some point and a filler has been applied and the evesthrough re-directed
footage: 1040Sg.ft - but only 3 walls need insulation
preferred materials: I'm worried about the moisture so I will do something that could be fixed easily in case is needed
previous renos; started with attic insulation, upstairs windows, downstairs windows and now the insulation
concerns: water level for the area and moisture in the west wall
This is a basement renovation (framing and electrical only) in a new house with an unfinished basement in Stonebridge (Dundee- Hartford floor plan). I would like to create an open-concept finished area (no rooms except for utility room). I have already puchased and had delivered the 2x4s for the project. I have a building permit already issued from the City of Saskatoon. Will insulate and gyproc myself.
We would like to frame in our furnace (2 walls+door) to make a separate room. (one wall is 10 ft in length and the other 4. Frame in the duct work(approx 30 ft) and add another wall + door to make a bathroom in our basement. Bathroom wall 8 ft.
Secondly I am looking to rough frame a cabinet to hold a receiver, and 3 components. Basically a box quartered. I will finish it myself.
Thanks
Denni
This is a 1960 house with little to no basement insulation. We will gut it ourselves. We require a 3 piece bathroom to be renovated in this space-aged bathroom exists. We'd like 2 bedrooms, storage, office space and family recreation room made of this space. We require the project to be near completion and the space livable by the end of august (rooms will be rented)
We own a four level split and wish to renovate the "third level" (upper basement) into a legal suite. Will entail installing sewer and water to that level, design and build of the suite. Need estimates on materials and labour as well as design cost estimates.
Demolition will consist of removal of ceiling tiles, "'60's-style" wood paneling and carpet, - most if not all demolition will be done by the home-owner.
The basement is approx. 603 square feet and contains 1 bedroom, 1 living area, 1 full sized bathroom and storage with water heater, furnace and small non insulated electrical room. I would like the basement soundproofed with 2-3 bedrooms and a full bath. The ceilings are about 6.5-7ft high and I would not like that changed. There are 5 windows that will need to be replaced. There is no water leakage or moisture problems. I am looking for online estimates as I still need to arrange financing.
I have a basement. 990 sqft. We want to put one bedroom suite down there.Framing is done. My husband is doing the wiring right now. The house was built 1957. There were 40% finished when we bought this house, but we didn't like it, so we took everything out and did it again. We just want to look for somebody to help finish the basement.
We are looking for quotes for finishing our basement.
The basement is already partly framed and insulated, we will need a small amount of framing (door way and stairway wall) as well as dry wall, flooring, ceiling etc. We do not want a bathroom at this point, only 1 bedroom (already framed in) and a den.
We want to finish our 1000 sq ft basement. We need to insulate as it is not insulated outside of the bedrooms, and requires flooring throughout. We would also like to put in a bathroom with shower stall, frame a third room, and add 1-3 windows. It currently has only 2 framed bedrooms and a small storage room.
Greetings. We just moved into a house built in 1911. Unfortunately it appears a few strategically placed items hid the fact the floor and walls in the basement are crumbling. We had planned to finish the basement by adding a bathroom and closing in the ceiling and insulating the walls but now we need to fix and finish. Also there are these weird double window where they added onto the house but not the foundation that have dirt and building debris in them that we are concerned will be a problem.
