Looking to build a new deck for summer next year (2021). The specifications that I would like a quote on are:
- The deck size would be approx 12x12 ft.
- The deck height would be approx 9 ft. (the house is a walkout)
- Deck material is preferably composite but would like a quote on pressure treated wood as well.
- Would need stairs coming from the deck with a landing.
- Also include railing (preferably aluminum) to the quote.
- Would like to get a rain escape built underneath the deck to utilize deck space underneath.
- Please include approx. engineer's report cost and permit cost.
The drawing of the house and the deck section is attached.
This is a new house (less than 2 years). Landscaping is finished. Want to build an attached, slightly raised (only about a foot or two off the ground) deck. No railings necessary. Pressure treated wood or low maintenance materials. Not concerned with hiding screws. Probably only requires one or two steps. Simple rectangle design.
We are looking to have a new deck built for a new home.
There are 2 drawings attached for dimensions and design idea. Please note if there will be a significant difference in cost between the two designs.
Prefer pressure treated wood for material, however we are open to suggestions.
Height of deck should be no more than 2 feet off the grade level, no railing desired.
Please provide estimate and timeline available.
Timeline for this project is between May and July (depending on weather and site conditions).
Our deck is about 15 years old we got tired of painting it and some of he boards were starting to crack about 5-6 years ago we had new plywood put down on it and some kind of vinyl sheets glued on now that is tearing away and it looks quite shabby. We live in a condo complex and so the deck cannot be attached to the building or the fence
Several outdoor wood repair or replacement jobs.
Replace two wood steps on front. Stringer still okay.
Replace several rotted boards on back deck.
Deck and steps of special treated decking wood. Not painted or stained.
Replace facia on garage roof where rotted out. Replace soffits as required on garage.
Repair (or replace?) two 8' sections of DYI fencing. Standard lattice-topped style.
House built in 2001. Garage in 1991. Owner.
Located in Rossdale, below downtown Edmonton, behind Telus Baseball Field
We would like to put a patio beside our existing deck to provide more space. Our home is 5 years old and the site is fairly flat (a bit uneven at some points, but will be easily leveled with gravel) Currently we have some sod and a rock garden there, but that will be removed before someone arrives. We would like patio stones/blocks and there is an angle where the nook of our house comes out.
Have a 10x8 deck, 2 feet off the ground, attached to home. Need a deck approx. 5x10 (enough for a BBQ and chair), set of stairs and then a patio 10x10 this patio would be replacing lawn. underneath existing deck is concrete slab that can stay and possibly the patio can extend. I would like a plain patio with the 24"x24" slabs, possibly river rock in between each slabs.
My patio needs a renovation. It lacks privacy and the concrete is starting to crack, we have issues getting in and out of our side door as the make shift wooden step is rotting away. The patio is about 24 feet X 10 feet made of cement and poorly done (cement poured on top of rail-road ties). Its on the side of our house right beside our neighbour's patio with only chain-linked fencing for privacy (yes, I like my neighbour's but sometimes you just want to have that morning cup of coffee on the patio in your pj's). I love to have the patio done anew and a fence such as wood put up for privacy around the patio. I'd love to have a BBQ just in time for my fifth wedding anniversary at the end of this summer and love for the patio to look fabulous. I'd like an estimate as I'm not so sure as the exact cost of this project.
Last year had grass taken out, weed prevention cloth put down and rainbow rock put in entire yard. Not happy with it. Tried to put a flagstone path with info off internet. Didn't work. 2 medium size mtn ash trees. Want it done really well. Am willing to pay for a good job. Some grading may be needed? Not sure.
Require removal of 3 decorative posts at front of house to be replaced with 3 4x4 cedar posts non decorative.
Work includes:
-Removal
-Acquire posts or advise exactly where to obtain them
-Installation of new posts at front walkway
Removal of 3 deck boards from house on deck, install drip edge plate and silicone to divert water leaking down exterior and running into home.
House was built in 1986. Deck is 3 years old.
Please see attached. Pics are first then followed by pages with measurements as well as pictures of ideas we would like to incorporate. We are looking for something that will last 20 years with low maintenance - does not need to be composite material - wood is fine. Really looking for privacy on both sides. Side deck to door needs to be nothing special.
Let me know what you think and if you have any questions. Totally open to ideas and suggestions!

Hi,
I am looking into building a deck for my brand new home this month. The width of the deck is 13.6ft, the length is 16ft, and the height of the deck is just over 2ft. I am looking for quotes for Pressure Treated wood, Composite, and Vinyl. I would also like to know if a deal can be made if I bring in another friend who would also like to get a deck built for their house. Please let me know!
Regards,
Anish
Hello,
I would like to get an estimate on my patio. Following things have to be redone. The duradek vinyl is coming off needs to be replaced with same or something else if you have a better suggestion. And the stairs have to be replaced. I would like to use the existent fence. I can add some pictures in the next mail. Size of the patio is about 32 ft x 9 ft.
In August of 2018, I had the upstairs deck replaced. This particular deck sits over top of the garage and when it rained, water would leak from the ceiling of the garage. Unfortunately, the local Edmonton contractor ( listed with Trusted Pros ) who replaced the deck and assured me that the drainage issue had been resolved did not live up to their commitment. This spring and summer water has been once again pouring into the garage from the ceiling. No response from the contractor who did the job. I am in need of a professional who can resolve the issue I am having with this deck.
City of Edmonton looked at the stairs put in by previous homeowners and would not issue permit for the deck. Need to have stairs replaced and need a quote for the lawyer to give to previous owners to negotiate the cost of the deck repair. Prefer materials that will match the color of the deck, and just need a sturdy set of stairs.
Hi there,
It would be great to receive a quote to have a deck built on our home. Additional information is listed below:
Size: Approximately 12X12
Type: Wood, no railings, ground-level, two-step staircase
Site conditions: Landscaped backyard, clean, no debris
Age of house: 7 years old
Requirements: Meet building deck code
Timeframe: Request to have completed by October 15, 2012
In advance, thank you for your time.
We need to extend the existing patio for a new hot tub. The site is currently grass. The old patio has settled toward the house and needs to be taken up and levelled.
So the project involves relaying the old patio and tying it into a new area with the hot tub. We have chosen the new stones and are hoping to relay the old stones as they are in excellent condition.
I need an on site quote for this job.
With all due respect for the amazing hardworking craftsmen and women who take pride in their work, if you are looking for a quick buck please do not apply.
Sincerely,
Michelle
Approx 24 ft x 10 ft screened-in or partial screen-in deck...with some type of roof (looking for options, asking for suggestions)
It would be a raised deck (approx 4ft) attached to the house
I would like storage below the deck with doors that lock
Build with treated wood and stained
I am the homeowner
I also have a very small existing deck to come down
Want it completed for May-June 2020
My builder did a terrible job on the railings for our back deck... deck is a second storey covered deck with walk down to yard (14 risers total). The builder put 2x4's attached to the outside of the deck - (not tied into the corner posts which support the deck roof) - it looks awful! The risers also have 2x4's but doesn't look as bad.
We are thinking of replacing with a basic railing (2x4 rails with 2x2 spindles) attached to the deck posts (supporting the deck roof). You may need to tie in 4x4 posts for the railing where the stairs are and at the corners by the house (4 total).
Can you advise if there are any issues with this (codes) and what the cost would be to replace.
Dimensions are 12'6" x 11':
Railings needed
12'6" (south - from house to stair/ corner post)
7' (east - from corner of deck to stairs)
4' (north from house to corner post)
Hello,
We are looking to build a small deck, about 12ftx12ft, using pressure treated wood most likely. We were also thinking of building a pergola on the deck (similar to the picture attached) Wondering if it is possible to get an estimate on how much this would cost.
Thanks so much.
