This is the worst moving company we have ever had to deal with. We paid a lot extra for them to pack our things and the movers just shoved things in boxes, they put the toilet plunger which we told them not to pack in with our unwrapped dishes, they damaged our couch, a futon, 2 lamps an ipad and numerous other things. Then after waiting 11 weeks for a claims response they offered us $30 compensation. They staff are horrible and not helpful and the movers also damaged property in the building we were moving out of and we found one of the guys sleeping in the truck after showing up 3 hours late. Horrible experience.

Worst company to move you. The. They will quote you low then continue to alter the quote based on their inventory list and raise your minimum weight and refuse to tell you the actual weight of the items. They will over charge based on an estimated weight. They have no transparency.
I am currently suing them and my items are not even with me, they are still in Ontario. They have already told me that I will be charged storage while we are in litigation.
DO NOT USE ATLANTIC VAN LINES! I can't stress this enough.
I am very disappointed with this company. I been in constant touch with them until pick up date to ensure disassembly was covered in the price, the flight of stairs inside the house is fine, the movers will put the stuff in the rooms accordingly during delivery, etc. When the movers arrived for pick up, they made such a big deal about having to pick up some of the stuff in the basement and 2nd floor and said the company is supposed to charge for that? And how they are doing a favor. Then they said the disassembly is not covered, and how i would have to pay a lot to the company and better to make a deal with them behind their back. I had no other choice given how stressed I was at that moment, so I did that. They said whatever I paid in cash would cover all the packing service they do for us and the disassembly service. Then they tell us a random weight and asked us to sign off, I know they didn't even weight the items. It was 2 or 3 times the actual quote we received and we were almost pretty accurate with the inventory list we gave. Again I had no choice but sign off, because I had a long road trip ahead right after that move out process and I had no time to argue or deal with them. Then just before delivery date, i emailed them to make sure everything is confirmed and going as per plan, and they reassured me. Then they send me an updated price just before the delivery date for 6 bags for packing, but I dont even understand where that's coming from? and i never signed off on that the day of the pick up. Then on the delivery date, we realized 80% of the stuff is missing. They basically missed a huge compartment. I had no bed to sleep on. My kids had to sleep on the floor. It was traumatizing and pathetic. I call them asking for a resolution, they dont have any, other than the next scheduled delivery date will be 2 days after and so thats when they can bring the rest of the stuff. The truck that came was full with 3 other deliveries scheduled, there was no way they could have fit our 80% missing stuff in it. I am wondering if it was a genuine mistake or was intentional to leave the stuff behind? They still dont have a favourable resolution for us. And I dont think they will. They say they blanket wrap everything, but nope. Lot of my stuff were not wrapped and were wet and damaged. And I bet they wont do anything for damages either. Please do not do any business with them. Moving is already stressful, they make you go nuts.
I used Atlantic Van Lines to move, a lot of my furniture was destroyed during the move, they stored my furniture for 2 days before delivering, and obviously, they were tossing around my stuff and didn't care to handle it properly! 10 weeks after filing the claim they offered me $30 for the damages including a side lamp, bed frame, Dresser, and turntable, they informed me that I purchased the basic coverage and that basically they owe me nothing, although I wasn't offered any other coverage and even if I only had the basic coverage why is it ok that I paid this company to move my furniture and then having it completely destroyed! I ended up spending almost the same amount of the fee they charged me for the move just to replace all the stuff that was destroyed during the move. PLEASE don't use their service just because they are a cheaper option than other reputable companies because you will end up spending a lot of money repairing the damages done.
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY !!!
They rushed me into giving them a detailed list of my belongings in order for them to give me a quote, than they said I needed to e-transfer them $150.00 so they can enter me in their system, and failed to mention that it was unrefundable, I wish I had of seen all the bad reviews before I gave them my money, but at least it was only $150.00 and not thousands of dollars in over charges like the story's I've read.
DO NOT BOOK! These guys have had the worst transparency, the worst communication with their client and their contractors, the worst customer service I have seen. Moving is stressful, DO NOT make it more stressful by booking these guys. The service cost will MOST LIKELY be above their initial quote, so they ARE NOT the cheapest mover. They took a deposit THEN told me it could take more than a month to get my furniture. They booked the ONLY time I said was NOT AVAILABLE in my building for moving, they miscommunicated the amount of furniture to be moved to their contractor, they DIDN'T schedule pickup of my vehicle which I requested, some manager named ANITA then proceeded to tell me I was wrong and wouldn't let me finish sentences on the phone and used a very rude tone (with her customer, which I had to remind her of). When I asked them to urgently re-book me for the vehicle move as I was about to leave the province permanently, THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. They CONSISTENTLY underserviced in every area of the move. Spare yourself the misery of dealing with them and DO NOT BOOK!
If it was possible to leave less than 0 stars, I would.
My furniture and belongings arrived on time, that is about the only good thing I can say.
My bedroom suite arrived with several chips and scratches, ad it's 20 years old, I let it go. However, the 6 month old, $1000 Sealy mattress was torn up on one end.
My mechanics toolbox had obviously been dropped and the top caved in, fortunately the lock held. They left it sitting in the driveway and said they would not move it as it was too heavy (it has wheels and was going in my trailer.)
The "movers" were careless and scratched/gouged the walls of my stairwell.
I contacted these folks and was directed to file a claim. Followed all the instructions, provided pictures and even the receipt for the mattress.
They offered me $30.
Stay as far away from this company as possible. Despite the cheap pricing, it will cost you more in the end.
I am very VERY unsatisfied with the service that was given. I have NEVER in my life written a review but this is needed:
I was moving out of my mom's place, Ottawa all the way to Calgary and the first thing that one of these movers picked up was a..."basket" and immediately, he broke that, the next thing he went to bring out was my fireplace....by HIMSELF, meanwhile his partner was upstair strapping my bed and couch.
This man was clearly struggling with the heavy fireplace and he broke the front of it which opens up...he just tried taping it back together and when it wasn't working out, all he could say was, "I don't know what to do with this"....
I went upstairs to his partner and said, "I think he needs help" and he rushed downstairs to help him...
He then went for one of the couches and broke the foot, then just threw it in a bag.
I later asked him if there were anything else that broke...he said, "What broke". I responded, "Well, you broke my basket and the fireplace...." (this was before my mom told me that the couch foot came off) He responded, "The fireplace was already broken because the screws were loose"...
I just nodded my head and kept quiet because I don't know what else he is going to break in anger along his way.
Truthly, the moment he walked in, it was unprofessional. He kept rushing me of the things that he needed to sticker and whenever I would add an extra item that I remembered about, he would get frustrated, asking me, "Is there anything else? Because I'm not gonna keep going back and forth". So, now there are a lot more things that could have been on the truck had I not been rushed.
He was literally rushing with everything, not being aware of his surroundings and attempting to bring everything out by himself...now tell me why would I move out with a broken fireplace which front literally hangs down after it had been broken.
To further express his wrecklessness, I have moved from Gatineau a few months ago and helped move that fireplace...as skinny as I am but absolutely nothing was broken.
I am also afraid for my tv that is on that truck and my glass materials.
Not only do I want a heavy reimbursement, but Atlantic Van Lines, how do you really expect me view your company now after this complete unprofessionalism, looking like this mover was just picked up off the streets because you needed someone real quick.
I had moved my stuff from Edmonton to Brampton in july took them a month from the pick up date to deliver the stuff. I was travelling with a baby so was very inconvenient as they kept changing and delaying the delivery date. The day I received my shipment my glassware was broken, my fans were damaged, the tupperware boxes were broken lost my box. No responsibility was taken by the delivery guy said to contact the office. On contacting them the sales agent jen kirsh sent me a claims form and told me it will take 4-6 weeks. Followed up with them 4 weeks later some anita lady sends me settlement offer of $20 for things worth $700 and says thats all i get accept it or leave it. I refuse to take $20.would like to warn everyone never hire this company please they are ripp offs and unprofessional and unapologetic people they have no offices so you dont know who to go to. Please do not waste ur time and money with this company. They are thugs who steal ur stuff and will give you $20 settlement for things that emotional value and monetary value. I lost all my artwork my pictures and coffe table.
We recently moved from Alberta to Southwestern Ontario. The price quote was fine but it took almost a month to get our belongings that had been severely damaged in the process. Brand new nursery furniture our baby will never be able to use because EVERY.SINGLE.PIECE. needs to be replaced. They lost our dining room table and left us with 3 horribly disfigured chairs and a pair of cross-beam supports. When we asked the “gentleman” (who spoke very little English and I do not believe was able to accurately read the bill of lading) where our missing furniture was, he laughed and said “call the office” and then hopped in the truck and left. Jen Kirsh, the sales representative we dealt with was unapologetic and mostly unhelpful. She told me to fill out the claims form, it’ll take 4-6 weeks. When I finally heard from Anita Kleitz, the claims manager, she then tells me that only the pictures of the damage and not the completed claims form had been forwarded to her from Jen. They only give you 10 days after delivery to complete this form and she emailed me 11 days after, essentially to say that I’m probably S.O.L. because it wasn’t submitted on time. I had to forward her the timestamped email to prove that I got it completed in time. Anita then tells me that this will take 6-8 weeks! On their claims form they state not to repair, replace or discard damaged items because they reserve the right to inspect the damaged goods at any time. I certainly cannot use a single piece of my furniture without repairing it at a bare minimum! So their expectation is that we must live without our furniture for MONTHS. I cannot express how deeply angry I truly am. DO NOT trust Atlantic Van Lines with your possessions!
