We were looking for a contractor to remodel our bathroom. We had a few quotes and decided to get one more based on a recommendation from a friend. After meeting with Nathan and discussing our plans for the bathroom we decided to go with him. Nathan and his crew were professional every step of the way. Of course with renovations and old homes, problems and changes are to be expected. We were able to come up with solutions to accommodate the issues with our bathroom. We also made some of our own changes and add ons while the project was going without any problems. We were very pleased with how our bathroom turned out. The crew was great, courteous and respectful, and was able to deal with the challenges of our old house.
We have since had Nathan do 2 more projects for us. His pricing is fair, and we trust their work. Over the course of 3 projects we’ve had some minor issues that we brought to his attention and he was more than willing to fix them until we were satisfied.
I’ll be sure to call Nathan for any future projects.
Our project was a major renovation of our main floor. Every wall came down so needless to say, the guys from Barron Renovations were in our home for over three months. They were clean, professional, easy to work with and live around. As a mom, it’s important that I feel comfortable with people who are doing work in my home, especially when it’s for an extended period of time. Nathan and his team are all great guys!
While the work was being done, Nathan was flexible, open to change, and always happy to answer my questions. He made sure we understood where we were at (schedule wise) and was quick to communicate and problems that arose as the project went on.
As far as the work is concerned, we are beyond happy. I love my new main floor and am already dreaming of what we’ll do with other areas of our home. The project has been complete for two months now but there has been a couple things that we’ve asked nathan to come back and fix. He’s always been quick to respond and eager to make things right.
I can honestly say, I have ZERO complaints about my experience with Barron Renovations. It was a positive experience from start to finish. They will be our go-to anytime we’re planning home improvements.
I do not recommend this contractor. We hired Barron Renovations to insulate our walls and attic. They were messy and they did a poor job. They were supposed to "drill and fill" the walls with insulation but they left many spots unfilled. They also insulated the attic with cellulose and blocked all of the vents in the attic. My understanding is that the vents are required to prevent mold from growing. So had we not found out about the vents we may have ended up with costly damage.
Thank you for your review. But we did in fact completely vacuum/ sweep entire house after we had plastic covering up all furniture etc.
All walls were filled with insulation and passed by energy audit for insulation rebates. Attic vents were clear to begin with and we did go back to attic after concern that they were blocked photos were provided to show day light on the very limited vents with holes. We did recommend that there was insufficient venting and were declined on creating more vents. This job was also done in march 2017 it is now nov. 2018 and you are now just sharing this.
Nathan Barron left our job unfinished. He requested a payment for his progress and did not return. We should not have paid Nathan as much as we did as we found many errors which took many hours to correct. We had drawings and a detailed scope of work for Nathan to work from. We also had a contract with Barron Renoavations. Nathan was irresponsible. There were many errors and omissions in his work.
Errors and omissions by Barron Renovations:
Studs for walls framed at varying distances, insulation does not fit (not fixed)
Studs installed crooked, makes electrical and insulating difficult (not fixed)
Floor framing support members installed incorrectly, no bearing at floor joists (not fixed)
Stair stringers installed crooked and not in correct location (not fixed)
Eaves framed incorrectly, did not match drawings (not fixed)
Door sill installed incorrectly (not fixed)
Improper patching to walls with plywood and sprayfoam, interferes with siding installation (not fixed)
Doors framed in improper locations (fixed)
Door posts framed with improper bearing (fixed)
Floor beam framed in improper location twice (fixed)
Gable eave extended too far on one side did not match other side (fixed)
Framing support for drywall (not done)
Framing support and prep for siding (not done, incomplete)
Installation of doors and windows (not done)
Installation of siding (not done)
Installation of flooring (not done)
Installation of insulation (not done)
Barron Renovations damaged our wheelbarrow by piling waste material on it (it was bent in half). Our unfinished wood flooring was also damaged by Nathan when he covered it with tarps full of mud and construction debris.
Part of our contract Wit Barron was to salvage old material. Much of the material Nathan was supposed to salvage was left lying in mud with cracks in it.
Nathan does not hold himself accountable. Nathan's reason for leaving the job was because he wasn't making enough money. The above list explains where his time went. It is unfortunate for us that he has decided not take responsibility for his errors. All we can hope for is that others don't go through the same experience.
Thanks for your comments rick but there is two sides too every story. And a lot said is heresy regarding several of your comments. We had to stop due to the fact that financially you/ we were unable to continue your project ( i was making $9.00/hrs) which you did not care about but i could no longer continue to work on your project as i went into debt for that im sorry but didnt effect our work. But I know plenty of my clients know who I am and what kind of service I offer. I appreciate you feedback even though it is unfair.
After leaving your job which was 3 months ago. we did a bathroom for your sister who knew the situation but still used us to renovate her bathroom and was completely satisfied. After this you asked us to come back to hopefully continue work on your project offering us more money. which i declined as our relationship was a negative one after rude, threatening and harassing comments were made by you. Framing inspection was passed by the city also when we were on the job. your tool that was broken accidentally was a broom. the floor that was damaged was 3-4 pcs that had light dirt stains on them. all material was ordered on site by you so you could save on multiple deliveries.the hole garage which was an existing build that we were adding to was already over a foot out of square end to end which we shared with you. if there were any mistakes they are on you as you micromanaged every part of the project giving us no respect. garbage was left exactly where you told us to pile it as that was what you were taking care of. Im sorry if you were hurt in all this and im sure you will respond to this and that is fine. which i know you will but ive said all i would like too. and im moving on as negativity isnt good to dwell or hold onto. i hope you and your family all the best and do not wish you any ill harm. And hope you can find peace
Nathan, came and quoted our bathroom renovation in Beamsville. Quote was super. Nathan and his guys showed up when they said they would. Came every day until the job was done. No fooling around. We were extremely impressed with Nathan himself, and his work. Wouldn't hesitate to have him again. We asked Nathan to quote another couple jobs, for the Fall. Our final fee was exactly as it was quoted.
