Working with David Chettle was a pleasure, he definitely has a vast knowledge of all areas of renovations and was available whenever he was required. From the beginning of the project his suggestions were always welcome and usually acted upon. As often happens the project took a little longer than anticipated but the result was not just beautiful but very professionally done. I also have to add that the employees I met we’re all pleasant and professional at the same time.
Our experience with Chetco Homes was a positive one.
David came to give us a quote the same day we called which was a Saturday. The price was fair and we moved forward with the renovation. Within a couple of days they were onsite completing the agreed upon work. Mark was our installer and he was excellent. Thourough to the end.
I will not hesitate to call David again for any other renovation work in the future.
Great People to work for. We had some bumps on the road working in a small area.
The job took a little longer then I expected but turned out great in the end.
Glad we have another happy customer. Thanks for the positive report.
Looking forward to working with you in future.
We had a new ceiling put in our basement bedroom. We were very satisfied with price, courtesy, promptness, and cleanliness. Ran into a bit of a glitch with ceiling texturizing, but David addressed it “immediately”, and it was corrected ASAP at no additional charge.
He stands behind his work and I would definitely recommend his services!
Great people to work for. Sometimes things don't go perfect the first time. Thank for understanding and allowing us to correct the situation.
Chetco Homes completed essential repairs to my crawlspace walls: the rotting particle boards of the walls were replaced with cement boards, and a proper rim joist was installed. Mark laid weeping tile and installed a sump pump. Best of all, Mark built a beautiful two-leveled deck with a pergola! As always, David and Mark's work is thorough, solid, and tidy. Mark is a pleasure to have working on the house.
I hired Chetco Homes for a renovation project. It involved removing walls and closets to redesign an area forming two distinct sections. In section one, they built a small laundry area. In section two, around the corner, a 1/2 bath with a pocket door was created. In addition to removing walls and closets and rebuilding, the project involved running a 220 line for the dryer and running plumbing from the basement to the second story, venting through the ceiling to a high-pitched roof, and installing new lighting and outlets in both sections. David was patient, kind, respectful, honest, and professional. He communicated well and took the time to answer all questions. David and Mark worked 7 days a week, including a Holiday, to get the job done. Their work was of high-quality and completed within budget! I would hire David again and do recommend Chetco Homes for any renovation project.
Due to the proximity of our pool heater to the window, we were required to have a sealed window.
I posted the job to REPLACE the window and David responded. He was able to address the issue quickly, which was a plus. He came out the day before to look at the window and confirm the size. He indicated it was a “standard size” and would be back the next morning to install. When he arrived he said no one had the window in stock, but he would “build” a window from the existing window. After a few hours he showed me the completed project. He had placed a piece of plexiglass over the existing window. He assured me it would meet the gas company’s requirements (and it did).
When it came time to pay, he charged me the same price as he originally quoted to replace the window. When I questioned him, he said he had to drive around looking for a window (Instead of calling or online?) and the failed attempt to rebuild window took time. So in the end it cost me $700 for a 30”x17” of plexiglass to be installed over existing window.
It was also quite messy, including silicone caulking on my patio door. I won’t be using this contractor again.
Well like they say you can"t please all the people all the time.
I did respond to this customers request and quoted her $650 plus HST. She lives about 45 minutes from my place of business and I figured it would be two trips. One to look at the window and verify the size and second pick up the window and do the install.
The window was in a tight spot below grade in a window well and between the pool heater and the pool pump.
I had allowed $100.00 for the window. Because it had to be a fixed window with no openings I was planning on using a shed type window made of plexiglass to seel the existing window. The window turned out to be an older style sider with single pane glass NO R-value whatsoever. I went to three window places in the area no one had that size. So I put on my McGiver hat and came up with a plan that would pass the gas companies requirement. I purchased an aluminium screen frame and a sheet of plexiglass . I modified the frame to hold the plexiglass. I made the frame the size of the window opening and cut the plexiglass to fit inside. I seeled the glass to the frame with silicone. I had to remove the old glass from its frame in order to install the new sealed plexiglass window . Then I reinstalled the old window. When I preset my invoice she said she thought the bill would be less because I didn't replace the old window. I explained to her why and that I resolve the problem and the gas company would be happy. To make her happy I discounted the invoice. As I was leaving I noticed I had gotten some silicone on the doorknob and apologized to the homeowner. She said no problem she would clean it off.
I contracted with Chetco Homes for renovation of the bathroom off my master bedroom. The outdated and damaged 1970s tiles and fixtures needed immediate replacement for both safety and maintenance reasons. David gave me sound advice on the best options and, once I decided on colours, tile types and hardware, scheduled the work. He and Mark made sure to seal the room as best as possible to reduce the impact (I'm allergic to plaster dust). I am very happy with their work and professionalism. Will definitely work with Chetco Homes again on work that I need in the future.
Great job. David and his assistant, Mark, were friendly and pleasant to deal with. Their work was excellent. I won't hesitate to recommend David to anyone looking for home reno. David was recommended by the local Rona store.
This is a review of the major bathroom renovation that was completed at our home by Chetco Homes located in Ft. Erie. The owner, David Chettle, always worked in a professional way; i.e., questions, giving daily informative guidance and following through with my requests. It was a successful customer relationship. Initially we did have a complication due to our wanting a permit through the Ft. Erie Building Code Department. That request effected the timeline of the original proposal. The permit was a three-part process to have the inspection completed. (moving a wall, changing the existing plumbing and a final inspection).
The two employees who worked daily on the renovations were polite, cheerful and hard working—a pleasure to have in our home. All of the detail work, plumbing, carpentry and painting were completed to my satisfaction. The bathroom is beautiful and the results rose way above my expectations.
I am very pleased with the work David Chettle and his crew did to shore up one side of my house with footings, posts, and a support beam. From the start, I appreciated that David actually answers his phone, showed up for the consult, and took his time with me to work out a plan that fit my budget. During the construction, Mark and Jeff were great—knowledgeable, hard-working, and very pleasant and courteous despite the cold, muddy work conditions. I highly recommend David Chettle and have another job waiting for him and the guys!

It seems everyone always wants the best price and that is not unreasonable. But, when the best price is given, it should be understood that, if the contractor is honorable, that really is the best price. One cannot expect something for nothing or for a business to compromise its service and integrity.
