I provided a full specification and drawings to several construction companies for a lump sum bid; Dave Wood was the lowest bidder and with a few clarifications, he also stated that he fully understood the scope and terms and would be done by mid September as required in the bid. Milestone Payments were made to keep it a cash positive project for Dave.
Dave’s quaility of work was very low; as the walls were not square and as well as the framing on the ceiling (8’ span was out by 2.5”). I came home early one day and found Dave trying to install the electrical; I stopped him and called the electrician that he used to pull the permit to come over to complete phase one of the electrical work. This also happened final phase of the installation of the fixtures.
Dave never finished the job, the bath room was only 10% complete and the fireplace at 20%. He informed me that he under bid and would not finish unless I paid him more money, this was late October.
I had a hard time finding another contractor to finished the project; Binford Contracting agreed to complete the project less warranty. Binford Contracting did a fantastic job and completed in the time frame quoted.
I would NOT recommend Resourceful Reno for any project!
I am surprised why he is still has a licensee to scam as Pre-Paid contractor after what he has done to lot of people .Do not fall for his humble character that is part of his act. Just call BBB to hear Resourceful Reno's shocking stories.I give you a clue Dave, Oct 2010. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME going to business with him, and he portray himself as family guy, IT IS A SHAME. I encourage those who did business with him to come forward and file a collective /joint civil suit against him or go to media outlets.GOVT of Alberta should weed out people like him out of this province once served their time.
Our basement exceeded our expectations. Dave found us the best deals, and gave us a basement of our dreams. We always receive compliments from friends who want exactly what we have. Our basement is organized, it's the perfect place to entertain, and also allows for a space that is productive for a family, and it is a great play area for our toddler.
We would definitely recommend Resourceful Renos to our friends and others.
We are now enjoying a much brighter updated kitchen. Dave has done wonderful work in updating our kitchen to a more enticing atmosphere for when we sell. He has also done a great job in updating our two and half bathrooms for the same purpose – an enticing resale value. If we would we have had enough time before this house goes up for sale, we would have him busy working on the basement.
Dave’s work ethics perceives a well grounded person working hard to get everything finished in his allotted time frame. Never feel shy or reluctant to ask Dave questions. He will let you know what works and what doesn’t. And he does double check with you to ensure it’s the look you want.
We trust Dave 100%. He was given a key to our house to let himself in while we were away, or if we were out. He even picked out the stairway carpet for us because we knew he would do a good job in choosing the right look and feel we wanted. And you’ll love his tile work.
Dave does all the work on his own. Understand that for one person it does take time to get a renovation completed properly. Have a clear plan for how you want Dave to piece it all together. Know what your budget is. Be upfront with Dave about this so he can provide a quote with ease. And he sticks to his quote, plus guarantees a whole year later of service – of course, his work is so well done, we haven’t yet had to haul him back to repair anything.
Keep communications open with your ideas and ensure Dave knows what you want. It makes doing his work much easier, allowing you to relax while he does his magic. Depending on the renovations you want done, be prepared to leave your home for awhile. We were away for two weeks to allow Dave to get in there and rip apart the kitchen – and believe me you won’t want to be around during this time.
Dave is very accommodating when we’re poking around the corner to see what he’s up to. He has patience we can learn from. His work is methodical and he works at a steady, progressive pace. We are happy to recommend Dave, Resourceful Reno’s, for all your renovation needs.
Thanks a bunch Dave,
Nancy and John
Dave did a really nice overall job. He put good ideas to use and this added to the finish product. He completed job in a timely manner. The detail was nicely done as well.
I am happy with the result and am enjoying my new kitchen.
Thanks Isaac, it was a pleasure working with you to turn your kitchen into a modern one, in your one hundred year old home.
Please, please, please do not use Dave for any of your renovations. It took us nearly two months to finally get him to simply come replace some boards and to pressure wash our fence so that we could paint. A really simply task I thought, but apparently for Dave this was a difficult task. I will give Dave this much the boards he did replace were good but our fence is still not in any kind of condition to paint. He never did pressure wash our fence. He only "scraped" some paint off of some of the boards. He claims that that is all we asked for but I have several emails saying otherwise and he was the one who told us that we would have to wait two to three days to paint if he pressured washed because the fence would be wet. He refused to finish the work and my husband and neighbour argued with him for nearly an hour about it. My husband finally caved and paid him even though he only did a quarter of the work that was asked of him in the original quote. He also refused to provide us with a new bill. My husband was just so sick of dealing with him because he was so unrealistic. Please this is for your own good do not use this contractor.
This client claims it took two months for me to get to the job, what they forgot to mention is it took them almost 3 months to decide what they wanted me to do and by that time I was commited to other clients. I chose to scrape the fence as the client wanted to repaint the next day, leaving no time for the wood to completly dry, not to mention rain was forcasted. all of these factors were explained to the client, I thought they had an understanding of the situation. We spent over 8 hours scraping and sanding the fence and came back to do more when they said they were not happy with the results....I honestly dont know what else I could have done to make them happy, perhaps I should have replaced the entire fence for free? Also I only received a small portion of the total contract amount as payment.
