Hello,
We create sustainable architecture and many of our clients are excited about bamboo as a building product in millwork, flooring and more. Our biggest struggle is the contradiction of shipping a rapidly renewable product around the globe.
Can you recommend any Canadian or even North American growers who's plants are sustainably harvested for manufacture into the above mentioned products?
Thanks very much for any info you can provide,

Hi Brynn,
Great question! I volunteer for my local Habitat for Humanity builds and our last project was certified LEED platinum. A big part of that, as you probably know, was sourcing local and sustainable materials.
To partially answer your question, I did a search for "bamboo plantations north america" and it turns out that it is being proposed in the southern US and there may actually be some up and running. I don't know if they are producing any product yet but I guess you could contact them and find out. The search turned up 1,870,000 hits.
If you come up with anything, let us know.
Good Luck with this!!
