Hello!
I am planning to finish our (completely unfinished) basement. In the basement, there is a cold room which is placed under the front porch of the house. This cold room vents openly to the outside. As a result, it is freezing in the winter and hot in the summer. It does have a door which blocks the rest of the basement from the temperature changes. It is not a large room, more like a walk-in closet..
Are there reasonable options for finishing or improving this type of space?
Thanks!
edit: I would like to transform this space into the most logical storage area without losing too much floor space - it doesn't have to be perfect, but it should be useful! ;)

Yes put insulation in the vent leading to the outside to eliminate your cold room!
If you really want the cold room frame in four walls to make a proper cold room so you can insulate all the walls to it as well as the ceiling. Make sure you put the proper weather seal on the door to keep the cold air in that room only
The proper way to get thermo insulation and after that vapor barrier then it's good the vent get the one that insulated
Hi there! Thanks for your inquiry.
Are you looking to change it from a cold storage space to just a typical closet?
Long story short the answer is yes. But what are you trying to convert it into?

would you like the option of converting back into a cold storage 1 day?
Yes, that's doable with good insulation & vapor brier and a proper sealing walls and ceiling
