I have a raised semi detached bungalow with a 7800 sq ft lot size. Is it a good idea if I extend extra living space at the side or back?

Thanks!

Hi Edwin,

You would have to check with the town of Markham to see if you can. If it is allowed then it never hurts to add space. You would involve an architect and have it designed to suit whatever you want, up to the limits allowed by the town.

Good luck with it!

Edwin,

The City of Markham will have building regulations on how much of a lot that can be developed. ie. 45% in Calgary.

Also there will be rules on set backs from the front, back and side yards.

an architect or architectural draftsman will have this information on hand or you can contact the Planning and Development Department of the City.

Then if it is doable get some ideas of what you want to do and discuss with a builder to see if it is even feasible.

Good Luck,

Cecil
