My house is not air-conditioned.
In the summer, I have to close the windows in the event of rain, there will be no one at home during working hours
I have a dog and I do not want him to feel warm if the outside temperature is high.
So I have left a box fan on from 6.30 am to the evening.
Will there be a fire risk due to the prolonged operation of a regular (large size) box fan? The manufacturers of the box fan said that there will not be a danger from danger but I am not sure if this is true.
What about the over-heating issue? Or any other safety issues.
My dog will NOT have any access to the area around the box fan.
I do not use an adapter but I would plug the cord to the one electrical socket on the wall.
Thanks
Hello Martin,
Most of fans are capable of operating long without overheating. Yet, overheating motor is always possible. When the motor overheats, the current draw will go up and will blow the fuse or trip the circuit breaker. That is the reason that every circuit has a fuse/breaker which is rated lower that wiring and max load on that circuit. So, unless the fuse is oversized (against regulations), there shouldn't be fire hazard. Besides, other appliances like freezer, fridge, air conditioner or furnace may also operate for hours when people are not home.
