without seeing all the details and exactly the location of it it's hard to get an exact quote. You're roughly looking at $25,000 to $30,000 keep in mind this is Calgary's pricing

Jeff,

Pretty much the same prices here in Ontario.

A very basic way to estimate the cost of building a detached garage is to simply apply a typical average per square foot construction of $80 - $90. If there are complications or you prefer top quality materials and components the price can easily will go up. This can serve as a very rough basis.

Everything will depend on design, the materials prices and labor expenses. Installation of cement siding and a slate roof might double the cost in comparison with vinyl siding and an asphalt shingles roof. If it is an attached garage and house design will require matching in style, costs of construction will increase as well.

Hi Maureen,

If this is a stand alone unit you can do a slab on grade concrete pour, meaning we pier into the ground the 4 strategic points(corners if you will) and every 8 feet. then we make a frame as if we were doing a sidewalk only thicker, add in wire mesh and aggregate to hold down the base and pour the slab. In our experience once the slab has dried we would score in the direction of the doors to allow water flow to the exterior ground grate which will keep the floor drier even in winter. The slab alone would need 11 cubic meters of concrete this includes the piers, and with labour and material this alone would be 8 to 10 Thousand, doors I would suggest 2 -8 ft doors not a double (too heavy) add $3200. framing the garage with roof trusses $16,000 shingles or steel roof panels MAX $4000. Board and batten exterior walls $6000.

Windows and man door $3000.

Hope this helps.

It's hard to calculate the final cost. A proximate estimation, I'd say, is 20K $ or so. I saw similar projects. A lot of things has to be taken into account and if you want to spare you have to hire different firms for different works. Personally, I had to renovate my garage a bit and I ordered siding from one firm, painters (for an internal premise) were from another firm, and electricians from another.
