I want to replace just the surround around my bathtub and shower. It currently has a surround installed that has been glued to the drywall behind it. How much would it cost to replace the surround?
Hi Edward,
Assuming you simply want an acrylic replacement surround this fix would be $360-480 in labor and $300-500 for the surround and adhesive.
$980 + Tax
Without seeing the condition of the framing or drywall.
Be prepared to budget for replacement of those things as well if your contractor recommends it. Many of us would not feel comfortable installing on damaged drywall.
Good luck with your project!

Tub Surround.
A Bathtub Surround provides Smooth , even Surface for the Walls around your tub or tub Shower .
This surface has name of the cleaning and maintanance Problems, associated , with tile and grout.
There are available, made from many different materials from acrylic to Granite. Each material will be available in several Colors, so you're sure to find Somenthing that will fit your Bathroom.
An acrylic glue down tub surround is not very expensive. Removing the old one from the drywall and installing the new one isn't a big job. If every thing went smooth, a local handy man could do this for as little as $1000.
There are many other factors that could add to that cost.
1. The quality of the surround you choose
2. The condition of the drywall after the old surround is removed.
3. The condition of the tub. If it is getting due for replacement, then that would be the time to do it
3. The condition of the taps and mixing valves, again, that would be the time to change them if they are at all questionable.
So a basic $1000 job could significantly increase, so have a contingency fund.
