I have two burner cooktop that is inside the countertop cut-out. I need to replace one of the burner heating elements. However, the glass of cooktop is firmly glued to the granite with some silicone glue. There is about 1/2 inch of the glue area under glass all around the perimeter.
How do I "peel off" the glass of the counter?
Here are the things I already tried:
1. scraping edges with blade utility knife. Cannot sick knife under the glass
2. Pushing cooktop from the bottom. If I push hard enough it lifts the whole cooktop together with granite counter, but the glass does not budge
3. Pushed blade of putty knife from the corner of the cooktop glass with the help of a hammer. Small corner piece of glass chipped, so that approach will shatter the whole glass.
Any suggestions?
heat gun (rent at homedepot) on glue and pry, next use a "multi tool" with a wood blade and heat...also try acetone 1st with the above pry/blade method or epoxy remover rated solvents from hardware paint section (be careful of flammability labels)..it will come off
Thank you! I will try this method.
