I would like to know if i could use the same insulation for the basement as the kitchen? also What is the difference between R12 and R20? Which should I use if different for which project?

The difference between R12 and R20 is thickness

R12 is 3-1/2" thickness for 2x4s

R20 is 5-1/2" thickness for 2x6s
