Had to get a deck/upper porch rebuilt through insurance. Being they couldn't get 4 x 6 treated lumber they went to douglas fir 4 x 6 untreated and rough cut so sanded it down.

They never asked my opinion and when I asked why they would mis the fir with treated they said it's fine as it is an upgrade from treated lumber. Is that right? I'm thinking they should've went to 6 x 6 treated? Any thoughts?

Douglas fir is definitely an upgrade.

It's next to impossible to get any treated wood right now. Never mind the size.

I probably would have talked to you about it first, but that's going to be a pretty awesome porch!
