The basement is 940 sq ft, completely unfinished and I plan on finishing it for a basement apartment. I want to make sure the person downstairs cannot hear walking with shoes, dog claws, TV, etc. from upstairs and neither do I want to hear anything from downstairs.
Only looking for rough estimate right now.
1:70$ a Sqft for Sound Proofing will cover labor and Material / You can also go with Sound Drywall on the ceiling which would make noise impossible to hear.

Ok thanks, but what type of sound proofing product do you recommend I buy to get this done at 1.70$ / sq ft?
Something like Roxul Safe & Sound that I'd stuff in the walls and ceilings?
Or any specific branded drywall made to absorb sound?
Sorry I never got back to you, I didn't check back till now.
Yes Roxul R14 Roxul is cheaper and better then the Safe n Sound Roxul 1/2 in thicker. Any fibre glass Insul can be used as well. R22 is my choice JM. Just need to make sure your using LED lights. They're cool and won't over heat. Sound drywall is expensive 60$-80$ a sheet but 1/2 Sheet = 8 sheets thickness.
