In summer, it happens 2-3 times that my furnace room water on the floor. Because of hot weather, I set the thermostat on 'Hold' at 21 C. Please tell me what is the difference if I put it on 'Auto' but dont press the Hold, and I put it and 'Auto and press the 'Hold'. A month ago the technician filled 3 oz. gas in AC unit. I also used the vacuum to suck the water from the pipe that goes into the pump. I thought it could be clogged. I have this thermostat shown in pictures. There is time u can see on the display. I have no idea about this. Please help.

Well this could be a couple of things depending on where the water is coming from. It's either a failed condensate pump or there's a problem with the a/c system. Get someone qualified to look at that, either the charge is incorrect or the filter/indoor coil is dirty or there's an obstruction or problem with your metering device inside the system.

There is so much going on in this question and so many things that could be the problem, freon, plugged drain line, bad pump, plugged condensate line, kinked drain line, filter, prefilter, acoil plugged, frozen acoil ect ect. No one can give an answer without looking at it. I would call someone and let someone who knows what to look for look.

Hi, saw your question and thought I would respond.

First off, did the tech who added refrigerant to the system find a leak before he added charge to it? If he just added refrigerant to the system without checking for a leak you will run into this possible issue again.

2nd, the hold button just holds the temperature you set your thermostat to 24/7, until you hit the schedule/run program button which will run the schedule set up in your thermostat.

3rd, the water leak is possibly due to a blockage in the evaporator coil drain pipe or spout. The blockage may not be a complete blockage and when the AC unit is off it will slowly drain and everything will be ok for a little while, but then the water will build up faster than slight obstruction will let water drain and you'll get water leaking on to the floor and furnace.

I hope this helps!

Hello Mr. Farhad,

Thermostat set up does not have anything to do with water leak. If you put on hold, you would simply change temperature manually (not useing thermostat program. On/auto is just for blower operation to run continues or automatic.

As, some others have already explained several things can cause water leak. Ice melt from frozen coil (low refrigerant or or restricted air flow), drain blockage and damaged or wrongly sloped coil are the most common cause of water leak from air conditioning system.
