I'm building a wood working shop - 30x60x10 and unsure about what lighting I should use. Led or standard t8's?

We don't install T8's at all any more. The LED's are brighter, less maintenance and are close to the same price now. Use complete LED fixtures and not LED lamps in a T8 fixture, the ballast would still wear out causing more maintenance.

LED has the added value of using less than half of the wattage the fluorescent does. Also dimmable, but check as each fixture has different dimming capabilities and hardware requirements.

Great question, I would look into using LED flat panels for your lighting.

I would recommend using a LED highbay or lowbay fixture. LED uses a fraction of the power and has no maintenance after the initial install.

We do not install T8 fixtures anymore. Everything has gone LED, and the initial cost of the fixtures has significantly been reduced from a few years ago.

In the long run you will save in maintenance and electrical costs. You can get much more light in the shop as well as leaving more room in your electrical panel for equipment.
