Hello can you tell me if a license required for someone to lay floor/kitchen tiles? Can someone just go around tiling kitchens and washrooms with out a license?

The answer to your question is no, however when you hire a contractor or a flooring company they are required to have a business license within the town you live, this ensures they are insured and are registered legitametly as a business.

Always asks for several references and ask to see previous work.

Like Mark previously stated, there is no licensing required for tiling other than a business license at your local municipality,
