We could not be happier and more impressed with absolutely every aspect of our experience with John Boyd.
John was incredibly responsive and friendly throughout the whole process. He was always explaining what he was doing, the ways he could cut corners but would refuse to do so, and giving us options for what suited us best. I never thought I'd feel so well informed throughout a renovation process.
John also kept within his original estimate for our project even though there were a few surprises that required him to stay late and do extra work on several occasions to ensure everything was completed to the best possible degree.
With everything going so well and being so impressed with John's work ethic and demeanour, I thought surely, something must go wrong. So I was bracing myself for a less than stellar job for the workmanship. It's worth noting that I'm a professional photographer and considered one of the best in the world at what I do, so aesthetics and attention to detail mean a whole lot to me. Well, John blew me away in this regard as well. Impeccable workmanship in every regard. I had visited a $900,000 new-build townhouse down the street from us the day after John finished our floors and it was immediately obvious that whomever did their floors did not put the care, professionalism and talent that John put into ours.
On top of being incredibly friendly, professional and hard working John left our house borderline spotless every night. Something that I had not expected but definitely appreciated. It is this kind of care for his work that makes me realize we have found our guy for life for the any renovation needs we have that he is able to tackle. We plan on having our kitchen tiled and our large top floor bathroom fully renovated within the next year or two and know without a doubt who we will call.
Being a business owner myself I can definitely appreciate how much pride John puts into what he does. We share a similar work ethic and genuinely care both about our clients and the art we create. I am so happy that we have found John and will whole heartedly recommend him to our closest family and friends.
Cheers,

My wife and I want to take this opportunity to thank John of Boyd Renovations and his assistant Kelly for their meticulous preparation and installation of crown moldings in our home.
I sent John an email for an estimate, and he contacted me within hours to set up an appointment to which he arrived on time. He assessed very thoroughly our proposed renovation project and advised us what materials were required and why. His quote was also very competitive, and he offered references so we can verify his abilities and skills.
Although I do not usually award contracts on the spot, I had full confidence in John's competence after he freely volunteered pictures of the many renovations he had done for other satisfied clients.
I purchased the materials at a local store, and John happily volunteered to pick up the 8ft crown moldings as they would not fit in our vehicle. He also painted them a few days prior to bringing them to our house to install; this minimized any disruptions to or any inconveniences in our busy schedules. He set up shop in the garage and ensured the work site was cleaned before he and Kelly left.
It is unfortunate in today's day and age that many unscrupulous contractors' only goal is to take your money in exchange for substandard workmanship. I am pleased to confirm based on my first-hand experience that is not the case with Boyd Renovations; their main objectives are actually to earn your confidence in them and their work and to aspire to keep you as part of their happy client base.
If you want to be part of this rare and elite club of happy clients, you too should contact Boyd Renovations to see what they can do for you.
I was looking to raise the height of my floating wall that separates my kitchen and living room by around 15", to mount a tv onto it and to have the wall tiled on the kitchen side. I explained all this to John, and he knew exactly how to do it and how long it would take. What was a really big deal to me was the way he treated me. This is something that contractors do on an almost daily basis, but homeowners do once. He treated my request as a big deal to me, because it was. The level of professionalism and respect was astounding, and the open communication with John throughout the whole process made me realize I hired the right person. After the task was completed, John cleaned up better than what the area looked like before he started the job and removed all garbage and debris. There was even follow up to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. My mother in law came over and when she saw the heightened wall she said it looked as though it had already come with the house. I made sure to let John know that. Without a doubt I would rehire John for any additional renovations I would need to make to my home.
In this era of unscrupulous contractors, BOYD Renovations has proven that there are very good people in the business of Renovation and that Pride in Workmanship is still valued and communicated through to the completion of the Renovation.
John initially responded to my inquiry in a very short period of time. He arrived on time for the estimate and he was cordial and efficient as I spoke to him about my concerns and the solution that I thought was required.
We spoke at length about the "whys and why nots" and John got down to the essentials and send me a details estimate within a few days. The time that it took for the estimate to be completed was a reflection of John's efforts to source out the materials and competitive costs associated by "shopping around"
I won't bore you with the details but this 2 day reno became a lot bigger when it was discovered that the water damage has been more significant that originally thought.
New Estimate and a promise to deliver before the snow arrived.
John had to take the house facades right back to the walls. It was not what I had anticipated but it was clearly obvious that it was the best recommendation for the problem.
John's attention to detail is his only "shortcoming". He takes more time than originally planned but Perfection usually does.He takes great pride in what he does and he will finish what he started and show and tell you when there may be a need to do things differently.
He is fair in his pricing and will fully disclose everything in advance so that the consumer can make an informed decision.
John and his team are very clean. After each day on the job a full clean up was done and moved to the garbage for disposal.
Trust is not easily given but John has earned my trust and I am so looking forward to my new Bathroom and deck.
I would recommend that John be considered for your next project so that you may enjoy a stress free renovation or addition and trust that it will be completed with structural integrity as well as aesthetic appeal.
I will share my photos shortly but it looks like a brand new home!!!

I would not hesitate to recommend John Boyd and Boyd Renovations. I am very happy with the quality of my kitchen renovation, which came together beautifully despite challenges posed by both the design and the configuration and limitations of the space. For example, the design featured a pass-through, calling for a very large butcher block to straddle an opening between my kitchen, where it rested on base cabinets, and my dining room, where it provided the overhang necessary for use as a counter-height eating area. The butcher block required very precise notching on both left and right sides (front and back) so that it would overhang the wall opening. Even a half centimeter deviation in any direction would have thrown the balance and the connecting cabinets off. Also, the size of the butcher block relative to the opening in which it was to be an installed made positioning painstaking. I expect many a renovator would have refused to attempt it. John make the cuts and fit the cumbersome butcher block with such care and precision that it fit perfectly front to back and left to right. He was extremely professional overall and worked with me to address issues as they arose, ensuring that the result I had envisioned was achieved. I am looking forward to working with Boyd Renovations on my next renovation project.
Had a leak in he basement. Needed to see what I was dealing with before submitting claim. John was very helpful in describing what the issues could be. He was very efficient at removing only what needed to be removed in order to see what was the cause of the leak. Kept the area clean as he was working and was very knowledgeable. Great service. Would definitely recommend and use him again.
I liked everything that John and his company stand for. I was referred to John by a business contact of mine who recommended him after completing a quick project. John took the time to meet with me, sit down and go over my project/budget with staying as close as possible to reality/expectations. He started the project with quick steps and established deadlines that he surpassed with ease. His quality of work was excellent and he always kept the line of communication open with me in terms of budgeting and deadlines. I was able to quickly rent out my apartments to get back on the positive. I Highly recommend him for your upcoming project. Cheers
Did a fantastic job. Can't believe its my home. So much change it looks like a showroom.
John Boyd and Jason got the job done very quickly. The basement now looks wonderful with new laminate flooring and baseboards. No extra money was asked beyond the total amount in his quote. John bought the right type of transition piece (I got the wrong one) and paint for baseboard himself. Only when I insisted on paying for all the material, he gave me a rough estimate as he did not even keep the receipts. Always got quick response from him. They cleaned the basement well. As his truck was in the shop for repair, he could not remove all the old carpet and under pad, but he did tell me that before the project started. The whole project was a very smooth one for me. That was a nice surprise given my previous reno experience. I would definitely hire him for my future reno and recommend him to my friends.
