We had the team from Hickory Dickory Decks replace our deck in the spring of 2017. They built our first deck which was cedar and it lasted 23 years! We chose Veka for our new composite deck. It looks like wood but will last forever. The crew were amazing to work with and kept us informed of their progress throughout the build. We couldn't be happier and would recommend Hickory Dickory Decks to anyone looking for a well designed and built to last deck.

Jeremy and Chris were amazing! They are both very professional, dedicated and hard working. There were a couple of days I was actually surprised they were here due to the weather. Jeremy made sure we touched base with each other every day to ensure we were happy with the progress. At the end of every day he always asked if I had any questions. Before leaving for the day they made sure everything was cleaned up and never left a mess (I have heard that some contractors don't clean up after themselves). I really appreciated Jeremy's input throughout the project. He brought up ideas and suggestions we would never have thought of that improved on what we had originally designed - the step leading onto the patio running the length of the deck makes it so much easier for people transitioning from the dining area to the stone patio, the eavestrough on the pavilion. If we weren't sure what decision to make, Jeremy was great; giving us the pros and cons and walking us through to make sure we made the decision that was best for us. Chris was here early every single morning and sometimes didn't leave until it started getting dark.
The quality, timing and workmanship throughout the complete project was very impressive. From our first visit with you to go over planning and design to the finished project, everything happened on schedule and as planned. You and your team walked us through and held our hand from start to finish. Being first timers at this we were expecting some hiccups, delays and surprises; the surprise we got was that there weren't any. We couldn't have picked a better company to make our backyard dreams come true.
We asked for maintenance free, something that would last, and wanted the best backyard on the street - you delivered! Having seen the quality and workmanship that was put into the project, I know we will be enjoying our deck for many, many, many years to come.
We had a few (what started out as 4 and turned out to be 17) people over to open our new backyard and received nothing but the best of compliments. I think WOW was the first word from everyone! Apparently our neighbours are going to spend every summer in our backyard - maybe you did too good a job!
I really can't say enough about the professionalism and quality that your company provides, or about how happy we are to have the backyard we have been dreaming of.

My wife and I moved into our new home 5 years ago. We always knew we needed a new deck in the backyard, as the one constructed by the builder was only a platform built for two, with basic access to the yard. We were looking for something that could bring both relaxation and entertainment value to the home for our family and friends.
Once we settled on putting in a deck, we visited Hickory Dickory Decks for design and construction ideas.
Charleigh was very helpful and talked us through the various options, covering advantages and disadvantages. We eventually settled on a Zuri composite, as it is both sturdy and stunning in design. We gave Charleigh some rough ideas for the look and flow of the deck, and it was all but finalized on the first draft – she had a keen sense for what we were looking for and captured it perfectly in 2D and 3D drawings.
Once the builders came out, and we were impressed with their efficiency, safety, and attention to detail. Wade and Matt were fantastic to deal with and did an amazing job turning the deck from an idea into reality. Just superb work – it was detailed, precise, and no cutting of corners. The deck build was done with such thought and care, that when we made a change request to install additional lights on an extra step – the finished riser boards were already positioned best for installing them in case it was going to be done in the future. This kind of forethought and planning is only noticed at times like these, and the design accommodated the change seamlessly.
Simply put, they turned “measure twice, cut once” into an art form.
And as some projects go – admittedly we were not the perfect agreeable customer – as we did request some design tweaks and changes as it was coming together. Hickory met all challenges and any misunderstandings head on, as they were continuously striving to build us the deck we were looking for. Communication was fantastic, and we never felt at any time like we were being pushed in one direction or another just to finalize a project.
The end result is, we have a deck that is beautifully designed, built solid, and will last many years to come.

When it was time for a new deck I decided to invest fully in a no-maintenance high quality rebuild; I didn't want to ever scrape or stain again! Since this would be far more expensive than simply replacing the original wood it was important to find a top notch contractor. When I met Geoff Aucoin I informed him that while I was willing to pay for good work my standards could be extremely high. He promised not to disappoint and he did not.
I had an idea of what I wanted but was unsure of my options. Geoff brought me samples and helped me to choose from the many material options available.
Construction started earlier than promised; Fred and Art are true professionals with extremely high standards and a professional work ethic. My daily questions and concerns were answered clearly and patiently; the project proceeded as promised and finished on time and on budget. The work area was always left neat and clean. There were a few minor issues with the railings but they were rectified without hesitation.
The results are outstanding and I am 100% satisfied. Since the deck faces the street appearance is important; neighbours continually stop to admire it.
