My name is Leong F. I paid for $400 plus $20 GST for a wiring job (just a few wires) plus a Fan and Limit Controller for my old Airco furnace on September 22, 2017 for Need A Plumber Canada. My old Airco furnace uses a Honeywell 11.5 inches Fan and Limit Controller. However, technician Dylan replaced with a 8 inch Honeywell Fan and Limit Controller. After replacing the controller, he ran furnace testing, he discovered that the 8 inch controller was performing with safety issues, like the controller reached temperature of 250 F. He recommended our furnace wasn't safe. At that time I didn't notice the difference in size of the Fan and Limit Controller.
When I realized the difference, I called the service department about the Controller issue. A lady from Need A Plumber Canada told me that her manager will contact me next day. So far I haven't heard from them. That was 2 days ago.
Yesterday afternoon (Sept 25, 2017), I called Need A Plumber Canada booking an appointment with for some technician coming by our home for furnace problem with the Controller. The appointment was a slot between 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. We waited and waited. Around 8:30 PM, we received a call from Need A Plumber Canada that no technician will be coming to my house for the night.
I then rescheduled for the next morning (Sept 26, 2017) for a time slot of 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. No one show up. I then made numerous attempt to confirm the appoint. I was repeatedly informed on more then four occasions that someone will be at our house shortly. As it right, it is 4:17 PM, no one shows up.
I made the request was that they needed to exchange the 8 inch Fan and Limit Controller, and give me the 11 inch Honeywell Fan and Limit Controller.
I got a call from the "manager", offering to rebuild my furnace for a price. I declined and asked him to replace the 8 inch Controller for a 11.5 inch Fan and Limit Controller.
Leong, we understand that when your furnace requires extensive repairs it can be costly. We always advise you on the options for repair or replacement. Please feel free to call our office if you would like to proceed with the repairs or replacement.
BEWARE! Called to fix a toilet then had to endure high pressure up charge sales talk. Need a Plumber said we needed a new toilet. WRONG - the next plumber said all it needed was a new plastic ring. It doesn't leak anymore. Need a Plumber said our hot water heaters could "explode at any minute" and needed to be replaced asap. WRONG! The next plumber did some minor maintenance and said they could last 5-7 more years. Difficult to cut the guy off, then he calls his manager and 2 more guys show up at the door to add some muscle.
We just want others to be aware and to always get a 2nd opinion before getting work done. Our final bill was ~$500 with the 2nd plumber and Need a Plumber tried to say we needed over $3,000 of repairs.
By the way when the manager came to the door, all of a sudden there was a huge price drop - very shady practices in our view and I truly feel for those who fall for these high pressure tactics. We needed to say NO repeatedly, paid for the service call only and then locked the door.
Barbara,
Our technicians always explain the work and the prices to the customer upfront and get authorization before they start any work. We always recommend that the customer should proceed with only the work they would like to have performed.
We are always concerned when any of our customers are unhappy.
Without getting under the sink, the technician advised me that the seals in the body of the faucet were blown in my BRAND NEW HOUSE (18 months after possession) due to the high water pressure the city was feeding into my community. I would also need a pressure reducing valve installed because of this. Technician did not have a working water pressure gauge with him to test. Total quoted cost of $1100.00 for valve and new faucet.
I declined because i wanted to talk to my builder first and paid the service call fee and sent him on his way. Turns out, plumbing in new houses now have a 2 year warranty instead of 1. Also, my home does have a pressure reducing valve installed already according to the builder's plumber - apparently the city mandates this in all new homes over 80 psi pressure. Oh yeah, by the way, the leaking kitchen tap required a new braided hose only - free of charge & 10 minutes to fix. If this technician wanted to replace just the hose, then I would have gladly paid him to do that. Hmmm, i know have trust issues with this plumber and have advised the wife not to call them again.
Thanks for your comments. glad to hear your builder was of help.
My grandmother found her hot water tank leaking last night and found Need A Plumbers add on the cover of the yellow pages so she called them and said that they were out at her house very shortly (within 2 hours). She said the two gentlemen that showed up were clean cut and very professional and explained everything clearly to her before doing any work, they even offered to explain everything a second time to me over the phone. They did a very nice job on all the work from what I could tell when I went to check it out, and the whole job from start to finish was wrapped up in about a 3 hour window. I am over all extremely impressed with the professionality and care they had when dealing with my grandmothers situation. :) Would recommend to anyone.
Greatly appreciate the feedback. We thank you for taking the time to let us know how our technicians performed.
Thanks again.
Jason from Need a Plumber Canada arrived at our house and fixed our toilet and replaced our faucet in no time at all. He was very polite and explained us what he was going to do. Smart young man with a company uniform. We got his card and will call him if we need a Plumber again.
Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to send us your comments.
My sister and I had Dylan out to look at our leaking kitchen tap. He explained all of the prices for fixing or replacing the tap, since it is so old I decided to go forward and replace it. He had a great selection of faucets in his truck which he allowed me to pick from. He was very professional and efficient. I would definitely reccomend this company to anyone, Dylan was a great help!
Thanks for the feed back. We appreciate you taking the time to send your comments. Dylan is a valuable asset to our company.
