I would recommend Eric's company, Seven Pillars, to anyone! Seven Pillars completed a complete interior remodel of a 1956 bungalow in June 2020 for my husband and I. Eric was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and reliable. He was willing to help us work within our budget and offered many valuable suggestions for our project. His quality of work is excellent and he has an eye for detail. We will definitely be calling Seven Pillars for future projects!
I reached out to Eric at Seven Pillars for a quote on some much needed painting and touch ups in our home. Eric came to our home to do an estimate within 1 day. His quote was very reasonable so we booked him for the job. I couldn’t be happier with the work he did. I have used many different painters over the years and they always did a good job but never a great job. Eric did a great job!!!! His attention to detail and professionalism was second to none. I look forward to using him in the future when we have more painting and bathroom renovations to do. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend him. Thanks Eric and it was a pleasure dealing with you!
We love our new bathroom and entryway. The final results exceeded our expectations. Eric was always professional and we really appreciated his close attention to detail. He was able to offer suggestions and alternatives which resulted in an improved final product and lower costs but was always willing to go ahead with our final decisions. He provided regular updates and calls, emails and texts were replied to promptly. The workspace was cleaned up at the end of every day and he tried to minimize any disruption to our lives. He even kept checking in on our kenneled dog who did not like the noise required by the demolition. We would absolutely recommend Seven Pillars.
Eric recently finished working on our main upstairs bathroom and ensuite bathroom, both were complete overhauls, and we had Eric expand the ensuite into a previously unused closet space. I'm really impressed with the work that Eric and his team did. From start to finish Eric ensured everything went smoothly. Eric, Dave and everyone else that Eric works with were super friendly and had an obvious sense of pride in their work. Eric was great at communicating what was going on and when things would be completed (project took exactly the time Eric said it would and if there was specific delay during the project he let us know exactly why). Eric was also able to help us out sourcing some of the materials required when our original designs wouldn't work which was a huge help. Eric also has an eye for the small details and ensured that everything was completed the way we intended. Like any project there were some small bumps along the way and I think that what makes Eric stand out from other contractors is that he ensured the issues were resolved to our satisfaction, and it was clear that it was a priority to him to get the problem resolved. We'll definitely be calling Eric and Seven Pillars again for work on our house!
We had a crack in our bathtub and needed to have the whole unit replaced with a new one. Large mirror and tiles had to be removed to accommodate this project.
Eric and his team did an absolutely perfect job in a timely manner. It was even done at about $500 less than estimated cost.
This is the second project Seven Pillars has done for us and this to %100 satisfaction!!!
Seven Pillars was very easy to work with and communicated well throughout the process. They were very organized, respectful of our home and clean. The project was on time and on budget. Any issues were discussed immediately and they provided options for resolution. We are very happy with the finished product.
Having never gone through any renovation or development before we we're nervous about starting this next endeavour - especially after hearing personal horror stories from friends and family.
We met with 3 contractors, one of whom was Eric from Seven Pillars. My partner and I knew upon meeting Eric he was the one. Upon our consultation he took the time the learn what we wanted and needed for our home. With that, he made the extra effort to build a strong rapport and trust.
Eric and all his contractors were friendly, easy to get in contact with, on time, quiet while working and clean.
Since completing it's been about 4-6 weeks and we are very happy with the finished product. Our friends and family who have seen basement are also loving it. Seven Pillars met every expectation and I would strongly recommend them.
Right from the beginning, working with Seven Pillars Custom Building to develop our basement, was an invaluable experience. We chose Seven Pillars as it was clear during the quotation phase, that Eric (the owner) really knew what he was doing. He demonstrated an exceptional ability to listen and also provide a variety of options based on the vision.
While the price was not the cheapest, using this contractor was worth every penny. His team was highly professional and respectful at all times. They spent 20 minutes at the end of each work day vacuuming, sweeping and cleaning up as if it was their own home. Eric also managed the permitting and inspections, making the processes very easy to go through.
Also, I really appreciated that the project budget, schedule and approval stages were well managed as Seven Pillars used a mobile app that was fully accessible and kept up-to-date.
When I had questions and called Eric, he was very responsive (either immediately picking up or responding the next business day).
The outcome was a well designed basement that included adding to our property an additional bedroom (with beautiful french doors), full bathroom, living room, storage room and mechanical room; a great return on investment.
A renovation is no small project, and most people will probably tell you they wouldn't want to do it again, but not me! Seven Pillar's took my old basement and made it new again! Eric and his crew are professional, clean, honest and driven to provide excellent service. They weren't the cheapest quote I received but more detailed, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! We are extremely happy with the outcome of our basement, it was done within budget, with additions, and within the timeframe first discussed. It turned out better than we ever thought. We very much appreciated Brad's problem-solving and ingenuity, putting in little touches like a valve cover turned nightstand with 3 tiers. We liked Eric's energy from day 1 through to the finish, and have no regrets for choosing Seven Pillars Custom Building Inc. I will be continuing with them for more projects in the future, guaranteed.
Pro's: Quality, Timeliness, Professionalism, Cleanliness
Con's: Price (but we felt we got what we paid for and not )
We are so happy with our renovations! Eric was absolutely awesome to work with, and was always willing to be on site when we needed him to help us sort out the little issues that popped up along the way. We can't say enough good things about Brad. His attention to detail and the quality of his carpentry really stands out.
Would absolutely recommend Seven Pillars to friends and family looking for a contractor to update or expand their home!
We hired Seven Pillars to fully develop our basement and detached garage.
Right from the beginning of the design stage, it was clear we had made the right choice. Their attention to detail, and options for design and layout were meticulous and vety well thought out.
Their work was absolutely outstanding, and their customer service was excellent! We asked for our basement to match the style and quality of the rest of the home, and they completely exceeded our expectations! They even went to great lengths to design and build a built in custom desk, bookshelves, and drawers in the basement bedroom. Nothing was too difficult for them to achieve in relation to our requests including soundproofing and air conditioning installation!
The detached garage development was quite amazing! Our original home builder built us a partially (poorly) finished garage with severe mould issues. Seven Pillars came in and properly remediated the mould issues, and then completely finished our garage complete with gas heating and waterproof walls! Fantastic!
If you are considering a new build, renovation, or repair, seriously look no further, you will not be disappointed with Eric and the team at Seven Pillars!
Our job was a small kitchen reno and was completed in 5 weeks and that included waiting for our counter tops. Any issue or concern was dealt with immediately. The crew working on the kitchen were very nice and gave lots of good advice when we weren't sure about how something should go. If you want an excellent contractor and excellent work you won't regret going with this company.
Eric and his boys did a great job and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. Great for working with us to reconcile our dreams and our budget. Super clean, trustworthy, friendly, and attention to detail.
Did a complete basement makeover-new rooms, drywall, ceiling, theatre, flooring, hvac, electrical, and paint.
Great customer service!
Seven pillars did a complete redesign/renovation of our kitchen and front room. Amazing attention to detail and incredibly responsive. They far exceeded all of our expectations and would immediately turn to them if we were to have any additional renovation needs. These guys are full service -- from creating the design to following through in making it exactly as it was planned. Everyone at this company, from the person answering the phone to the owners care and work hard to make one's renovations go smoothly.?
This was our third project with Seven Pillars and we couldn’t be happier. The outdoor living space that Eric and Brad helped us create is amazing. As with the other projects we appreciated their ideas and patience as we worked through the project.
I highly recommend Seven Pillars Custom Building. We hire them to finish our basement. Project included a bedroom, office room, TV/family room, laundry room, bathroom, etc.
We decided to select Seven Pillars since they provided a competitive quote and showed a high level of interest in the project. We are happy with our choice since Seven Pillars finished the project on budget and ahead of schedule. Eric (the owner) and his workers are friendly and professional.
Overall we are satisfied and recommend Seven Pillars for your project.
We hired Seven Pillars after interviewing several contractors for our basement development and we are so happy we did! Eric was knowledgeable, friendly and had great suggestions for the overall concept of our basement. He listened to all our ideas and made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. Moreover, he worked within our budget and stayed on schedule throughout the project.
All of Eric's staff were professional, courteous and friendly. But we were especially appreciative of Brad's hard work, especially his attention to detail. Overall, the quality of work was outstanding and we would definitely hire Seven Pillars again for future projects.
Seven Pillars was thorough in ensuring we were able to get the closet changes and mudroom work done that we wanted. We needed a cabinet installed where there previously was none, and when it came time to purchase materials, we were consulted to ensure it was the type of cabinet we wanted. The other option was to custom build one (vs. just buy an existing cabinet and mount), but Seven Pillars was honest and also gave us a more cost effective option.
When we first requested the job, Eric came out to do an extensive inspection, take photos, measurements and make notes. He also talked with us at lengths to find out exactly what we wanted done. The quote was sent to us the following day, and work started promptly upon us signing the estimate. Near completion of the job, Eric came out to the work site to ask us how we felt about what had been done, and to ensure his guys had followed all the instructions and delivered top quality work. That was fantastic!
The two guys sent to us to do the actual work, Brad and Joe, were efficient, hardworking, knowledgeable, courteous and cleaned up the areas they were working in, causing no inconvenience to the daily activities in our household. Much appreciated!
Thank you to Eric and Seven Pillars Custom Building for the renovation our kitchen. We are thrilled with how it turned out and marvel at how much it has improved our home. We are proud of it and enjoy its comfortable ambience.
Throughout the entire process from design to completion, we were impressed by the professionalism, integrity, cooperation and craftsmanship of Eric and his crew. They provided answers, advice, guidance, and excellent suggestions to improve on our original ideas. We were always included in the process. Eric saw to it that all work was done in a timely manner. Brad was on site throughout the project. The finished product reflects their keen attention to quality workmanship and detail.
The compliments from family and friends on the design and finish of the completed kitchen is a tribute to the quality and skillset of the entire team. It is with complete confidence that we recommend Seven Pillars to anyone wishing to engage a company who delivers a project to the highest standards of excellence.
John and Dianne
We reached out to Seven Pillars after our General Manager had previously used them on a large home renovation project. Although this was a unique job (we took over a warehouse bay that we wanted to convert to a rec room for our staff), it went off without a hitch.
The workmanship was very good and all of the tradesmen were great to deal with. I don't have much experience with renovation projects, but they were very clear and helpful throughout the entire process.
Our plan was to use the new rec room for our Christmas Party, so we were quite adamant about when the completion date needed to be. Mid project, Eric had to make some staffing changes that left his team shorthanded. However, Eric and his team worked long days, nights and weekends to ensure that the project was completed on time. We were very impressed by their commitment to meeting the due date and it was greatly appreciated! The new space was a huge hit with our staff at the Christmas Party and we all continue to enjoy it.
Overall, it was a very successful project with Seven Pillars and I would highly recommend them to others.
Seven pillars was very easy to work with. They did a good job and came back with no problem when we needed them to patch up a couple things.
Seven Pillars just completed a bathroom reno for us and we couldn't be more happy with the results. There was regular communication, the staff were friendly and hard working and the end result is very professional. We would definitely use them again!
Eric and his team were instrumental in transforming our old kitchen to the place of our dreams where we love hanging out and entertaining. From initial discussions to the final touches, Eric and his team ensured that the highest of quality was brought to each stage.
Despite minor hangups, Eric ensured that we problem solved through and enabled a workable solution. The sub-contractors that Eric employs are top notch and deliver an equally high product.
We are very happy with our kitchen. Thanks Seven Pillars!
Seven Pillars completed a large Reno that encompassed the majority of our main floor. Our home was built in '76 and had the typical layout; small kitchen, separate dining room and sectioned off living room. We wanted a modern open concept, and we love the final product! Walls were removed, plumbing, heat and electrical rerouted and a huge beam was installed.
After meeting with several contractors, we chose Seven Pillars for two primary reasons 1) they had an excellent reputation and 2) Eric seemed honest. Although they were not the cheapest quote, given this was our first renovation, it was important that we could trust whoever we chose. We were extremely happy with our final decision.
In regard to trust, we never once worried about the contractors Eric had through our house. They were all respectful, responsible and extremely thoughtful; inclusive of electricians, plumbers, cabinet installers and general tradesmen.
In addition to being trustworthy, the quality of work that each trade did was excellent. They were committed to doing each task to a high level, and were all open to giving their opinions if they thought we could make an alteration that would better the final product. Eric also held all of the contractors to an extremely high standard; he had the countertop installers come back to re-level, he made sure the flooring guys didn't get sawdust in our bushes, he ensured Kitchen Craft was held accountable for their mistakes, they helped with the sizing of our appliances, and the list goes on.
Eric, Scott and Brad were also great when it came to dealing with all of the small things that were unexpected. For example, they helped us with some water damage, plumbing issues, a hole created by furnace cleaners, etc.). They didn't charge for every little thing they consulted on or helped with. We were really worried going into the project that we would be nickel and dimed and we are relieved to say that was not the case at all. They charged for what was fair and did some small things along the way pro-bono.
With a project of this size and the fact that I am quite particular, it was inevitable that there were a few areas that weren't perfect. There were a few instances when the online calendar wasn't updated as often as we would have liked or things ran a little behind schedule (mainly due to Kitchen Craft). Additionally, it would be nice for them to have a very reliable interior designer to help with consultations. However, this is something I believe they are working on.
Although the vast majority of their tradesmen were excellent (K&J Granite & VA Electric are fantastic!), there were two suppliers that we struggled with. One was Kitchen Craft and the other was Trademark flooring. Kitchen Craft was very difficult to deal with and made several mistakes, Trademark stood us up twice for scheduled appointments (although had great products and very good rates). In both instances, Eric followed up with them and went to bat for us; however, they were two challenges that we did have.
Overall, we were extremely impressed with Seven Pillars and absolutely love our new space. Eric, Brad and the rest of their crew were all pleasure to work with and did excellent work.
As our home reno was wrapping up, I took on a medium sized reno at my workplace. I didn't think twice about hiring Seven Pillars for the project, we didn't even get a second quote. If we do any further home renovations, we wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.
If you are on the fence about who to hire, I encourage you to look beyond the bottom line. Eric and his crew were only slightly more expensive than the lowest quote we received and without a doubt, it was worth the investment.
Eric has done 3 renovations for us and I would not consider using any other contractor for the renovations. He is personable, conscientious and understands how a project should be undertaken. Any problems we encountered during the renovation were dealt with efficiently. We would recommend Eric for any renovation.
This is the second time we've had Eric and his team do work for us and we are even more pleased with the outcome then the first time.... And we didn't think that was possible. They walked us through every step of the way and really kept the work area as livable as possible for us and answered my endless questions without hesitation. We highly recommend getting Seven Pillars to do your next renovation project... It's a decision you'll not regret.
Seven Pillars transformed my new, underdeveloped basement into a livable space for my family to enjoy. Eric and team were awesome from the get-go, professional and knowledgeable all the way through. They worked within my budget and even went the extra mile with touch-ups that were not included in the original scope of work. I am glad I went with Seven Pillars over the other contractors and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to spruce up their homes - at a reasonable rate!
I found Seven Pillars here on Trusted Pros and I'm very happy that I did. Eric, Brad and their crews were excellent. My new bathroom is my favourite room now! The work was not only done well, but all of the people who came into our house to do the work were personable and friendly. No one minded answering my various questions and they explained the whys and hows very well. Any issues we had with the work were dealt with immediately, to our satisfaction. We came in on budget and in a timely manner. We would not hesitate to call them in again. I love my new main floor!
Thanks Seven Pillars!!
We were pleased with the process and final product we received from Seven Pillars. Eric was communicative and invested in the project. Our kitchen and bathroom are beautiful. We look forward to working with Eric and Seven Pillars in our next large renovation in the basement.
We originally hired Seven Pillar for a basement development. The development hit a few snags as mold was discovered and air infiltration had damaged the existing fibre glass installation. Scott, the site manager, gave several suggestions for mold remediation and spray foam and selected the sub-contractors for the work. The extra cost was more than reasonable and the sub-contractors brought in did a skilled and efficient job. We're glad we went with the spray foam, we were hesitate at first, but the basement has never been warmer and heat loss to the outside has been greatly reduced.
Like all projects, as you progress you realize there are a few things you hadn't thought of before or decide to add on, to add value and greater use to your finish project. Seven Pillars never had an issue with the requests for these additional tasks and were very helpful in their suggestions and accommodating on how these could be completed.
The sub-contractors, they hired, for plumbing, flooring and electrical were on time, professional, clean, friendly and very skilled.
We were very pleased with Seven Pillars own staff, their professionalism, skill and friendliness.
We love the work done on our home. We would highly recommend them to anyone and would gladly hire them again.
The level of professionalism and the quality of the work was exceptional! Seven Pillars was very easy to work with and finished the renovation in a timely manor with little to no setbacks or delays. All in all, working with Seven Pilalrs was extremely easy and I highly recommend them for the level and quality of their service.
Good quality work by Seven Pillars, the bathroom looks great. We were very pleased by the craftsmanship performed by Scott and the trade persons. Both Eric and Scott honest and trustworthy managers with good ideas and excellent experience with home renovations.
We had contacted Scott at the beginning of last year looking into a basement development option, as we mulled over whether or not to proceeded Scott kept in touch with us and was more helpful then could have been. He was very understanding of our situation and was extremely helpful, and after a year we decided to go through and finish our basement Scott was helping us the same day. We anted to keep the basement finished with the same finishing as the main, and the finished result was a perfect replica. We had a few extra lines run through the top floor as an added job and there were completed better then I could have asked for. Their team of tradesmen could not have been nicer or more talented, in six weeks we never once felt like our house was under construction.
Seven Pillars was hands down the best choice we could h ave made, we had cheaper quotes but the few dollars we paid extra was more then paid back in comfort and workmanship. We would use them again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Scott, Eric and the seven pillars team.
Right from the beginning, Eric and Scott were great to deal with. They got back to us promptly and delivered a professional estimate quickly. The quality of their work and attention to detail were stellar; any minor issues that we noticed were dealt with quickly. They were open to changes and quick to communicate any issues they ran into. The tradespeople they brought in were also friendly and courteous, and took real pride in doing a good job.
The only major issue we had was with an outside company that was contracted to provide custom-built cabinetry for the mudroom; what should have been a one-day installation turned into months of waiting for items to be re-ordered, fixed and re-installed. To their credit, though, Seven Pillars kept the pressure on the supplier and kept us constantly in the loop with their progress.
What was once a useless laundry room is now a functional mudroom, and a dingy unfinished basement is now our favourite part of the house!
It had been about 5 years since Eric and his team at Seven Pillars had finished our basement and seeing him again was like visiting an old friend. I explained to them that the end of the HDMI cable that had been run and secured through the now finished ceiling had broken off and repair did not work. At the time they were building, they were unable to use conduit, so the cable had been securely fastened making removal of the old cable a risky and complicated process.
My thought was to run a new cable through the crown molding they had put up to avoid having to punch a hole in the ceiling but Eric had felt that he could do better and not risk any damage to the ceiling or the molding.
His team came in, and using their experience they had managed to run a new cable WITHOUT putting a single hole in the walls or ceilings and they did it free of charge wanting only to keep a customer happy and to prove that they could do it! and commitment to maintaining a job they had finished 5 years ago speaks volumes to their character and dedication to excellence!
I have, and will continue to recommend Seven Pillars to anyone in need.
After hiring two appalling contractors that left us without a washroom we hired Seven Pillars and Eric stepped in and saved the day by removing the horrific workmanship left by the previous contractor. Eric was able to provide us with a working finished washroom in record time, from reinstalling the bathroom window to the ceiling fan to the recessed medicine cabinet, Erics plumbing ability and craftsmanship is evident everywhere in our renovation. The cost was within budget, communication was extremely good, and both time wise and craftsmanship were superb. I will not hesitate to hire Eric at Seven Pillars to do our basement reno and a second washroom.
Thank-you again Eric. May God be with you and your family.
Glenn
Thank you Glenn for this very kind note. We hope to be of service to you and your family in the near future.
Best Regards.
Scott and his team finished our basement and my bottom line up front is that they did a fantastic job. I got a number of quotes prior to going with Seven Pillars and my advice for anyone considering them is that you get what you pay for. There were several quotes that came in cheaper, but I wanted quality work and no hassle (in terms of permits and inspections). That guarantee of service and quality work is ultimately why I went with Seven Pillars.
During the actual work, their team was very responsive and open to change requests. I had no concerns about the security of the home while they were working. After the work was completed, they continued to follow-up to make sure everything was working correctly.
My advice for anyone considering Seven Pillars - You will get cheaper quotes elsewhere, but the quality of work and hassle free service will likely not be there. Spend the little bit extra cash and have it done correctly the first time.
Seven Pillars was a dream to work with. We only required about 350 square feet to be developed, but Eric and Scott treated the project with the same type of care and dedication had it been a 1000 square foot development.
There were no issues with tradespeople coming in and out of the house, everyone was respectful and we were always notified which days there would be people in the house. We were especially impressed at their response when we notified them that someone had forgotten to take their shoes off and left a very small mark on our carpet. Eric and Scott very quickly handled the minor situation promptly and professionally and we remained confident in their project management from beginning to end. Their professionalism and friendliness was incredibly refreshing and appreciated.
Any issues that arose were dealt with quickly, and we always felt our needs and requests were a priority. Communication was constant and turnaround for responses was almost always immediate. Working with Scott, Eric, and Brad was a true pleasure and we would hire them again for future work in a heart beat.
They did everything we asked of them. Price was not as good as I would have liked but feel that they did their best in keeping costs down. This company uses a web app for communication and billing. It didn't work perfectly and as a result our project was delayed. When problem was identified this company did work to resolve it. Owners are easy to work with and are accommodating.
This was our first experience with a major renovation and with using a contractor and we were very happy with our experience with Seven Pillars. From the first time meeting Eric for the consultation it was clear that he is extremely knowledgeable and helped us to see opportunities within our renovation project that we hadn't even considered. Eric and his team worked hard to stay on schedule to ensure we could move in as quickly as possible as we were living with family while they renovated our home. Eric is a perfectionist and when it comes to home renos that's exactly what I wanted! Although the flooring took longer than expected it was because certain aspects of the installation were not up to Eric's standards and needed to be re-done. Although this may have pushed the project back slightly, I would rather have it done as best as it could be instead of just moving forward. I would highly recommend Seven Pillars and plan to hire them again when we renovate our basement.
I would highly recommend Seven Pillars for your next bathroom project. Upon seeking multiple quotes and narrowing it down to 3 similar companies, Seven Pillars ranked in the middle of the 3 in terms of cost, but we selected them anyway since they are the highest rated company in the 'bathrooms' category on Trusted Pros - and they did not disappoint. Seven Pillars completed the project on-time and on-budget, kept us in the loop with a few surprises that arose, and made things right at no extra charge when a faulty sink was delivered by a supplier. During the project, we/they also suggested several extra add-on items, which they were able to incorporate into their schedule and charging only a fair nominal fee. To top things off, their staff are friendly and helpful. No need for you to search any further - hire Seven Pillars!
We had Seven Pillars add a tub and shower unit to a basement bathroom. Eric was very willing to go with what we had in mind but offered a few suggestions of his own which in the end turned out to be better than we could have hoped for. We were a bit concerned that any work we would have done would look "pieced in". That was not the case. The work was completed and we are not only happy with the quality but also thrilled with the way it fits and opens up the bathroom. We were very happy with any of the people we met from Seven Pillars. They were courteous and professional. The work was done in a timely fashion and every day they finished their work the work place was left neat, tidy and clean. The work was finished on budget and well within the time given. We cannot recommend Seven Pillars enough for anyone wanting to have home-reno work done.
We were very happy with the service provided by Seven Pillars. They provided excellent advice about the best approach for renovating our basement and provided innovative design solutions to address the structural quirks of our older home. They were very approachable and quickly responded to our questions. They handled all of the permits which was a big relief for us. They went above and beyond on the little items, like helping pick paint colours, picking bathroom fixtures and adding finishing touches. The quality of the work was top notch and we love the finished project. We felt we were in good hands throughout the project and would highly recommend them to other homeowners.
Seven Pillars is awesome! I've used them five times and will keep going back to them - they're my go-to guys now. What I like best about them is that they will work with the owner to find a way to get things done within budget. Prices might not be the cheapest out there, but they are certainly within the range of others; more importantly though, you get GREAT value for that money: no price creep, exceptional attention-to-detail in their work, clean work areas at the end of every day, and wonderful customer service.
Unlike many contractors, Eric and Scott welcome homeowner participation in a project and build that into their project plan through an easy to use web-based schedule. For example, on my recent bedroom project: I demolished old walls, Seven Pillars built new room, I painted, then Seven Pillars did some finishing details - worked like a charm and got my project in on budget.
Tremendous service and quality of work. Polite, responsive, fast, and overall excellent quality of work and follow-up. And very reasonable cost (no hidden cost, everything was up front).
I was looking for someone to help me with the above-mentioned work and came to this site, saw the great reviews, and decided to give the company a call. This was the first time ever that I went with a company based on online reviews. And let me tell you, the reviews did not disappoint!
I am in the process of moving into a different house. If I need any work on the house I am moving to, Seven Pillars will definitely be the company I call!
Thanks Eric and your team for the wonderful job you did renovating the main floor of my house. I was continually impressed throughout the duration of the project with the high level of service and quality of work. Eric is very competent and organized and sticks to the timeline/budget given. It was exciting to come home and see the daily progress being made! Eric was quick to respond any time I had questions or concerns. He offered great advice and was flexible when accommodating changes to the project. I completely trusted Eric and his crew (thanks Paul!). I would strongly recommend his company Seven Pillars to anyone considering a renovation.
PS: I get lots of compliments when people come over to visit about how nice the house looks!
Thank you.
We had a great experience with Eric at Seven Pillars from start to end. Very professional, trustworthy and friendly (including all of the workers that he hired to work on the project). He was flexible and understood our needs and ideas. Went out of his way to make everything work. Very easy and quick communication throughout the project. Will contact them again for our next projects, highly recommended!
I will recommend 7pillars construction company to anyone who needs renovation done in their home. The work was done quickly the worker were effient and professional they kept the worksite tidy and cleaned the site before they left for the day. Eric was available to talk to and he supervised all parts of the construction. We were very pleased with the new shower and can not thank Eric and his workers enough Thank you all very much Ev Huisman
Eric and his crew did an amazing job turning our basement into a legal suite. He was always courteous and always responded to his emails in a timely manner. He made his best to stay within budget and offer money-saving solutions. The quality of the work was very professional and met our expectations and... those of the City of Edmonton! We particularly appreciated the fact that Eric is bilingual and was able to provide explanations in both French and English. We will definitely hire Seven Pillars again!
We hired Seven Pillars to renovate all 3 of our bathrooms which were 20 years old. For the main bathroom we had Eric and his team take out the bathtub and replace it with a tiled walk-in shower.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. The work that was done was excellent!
Eric and his team were very professional throughout the project and the communication was exceptional....I never had to wonder about the schedule as Eric keep us updated daily.
We plan to use Severn Pillars again for future projects and we highly recommend them!
We enjoyed working with Seven Pillars for our bathroom renovation. Eric communicated with us throughout the process, letting us know of all progress and set backs. The final product is exactly what we were looking for. We felt very comfortable having Eric and his team in our home. The BuilderTrend App was especially useful. It provided a simple way to track the progress, know what's happening next and sharing pictures.
Eric and his crew of professional contractors at Seven Pillars really made this renovation go well. We had an idea of the layout and room placement but Eric made that concept a reality. From the 1st site visit to the final inspection, Eric impressed us with the clear and accurate time and cost estimates. His work site was always left clean and tidy and the Builder Pros app really facilitated quick and consolidated record of our communication.
Every great trip has a few bumps in the road and Eric was always forthright and proactive when the project came up against the unexpected. Not only was his workmanship something I am proud to show others, I have peace of mind knowing all of the little details "behind the walls" were taken care of as well.
We chose Seven Pillars based on reviews from this site, which was a first for us, but, being new to the area, we had little more to guide us for personal recommendations. I hope someone reads this review and it convinces them to call Eric. I can assure you that beyond to additional livable space, which we love, our house is a better house for having Seven Pillars as a contractor.
Fast response, good communication, professional work!
Very professional service. Kept us well informed of the work and stayed on time and committed to the work agreed to. The end result is a beautifully finished basement. Thanks very much!
From start to finish this renovation was a true collaboration between Eric and ourselves. Eric had great suggestions from design ideas to product selection and we couldn't be happier with the results. The true measure of Eric's commitment to excellence is how he dealt with my many questions and how we worked through any difficulties together. He really did have our best interest at heart throughout the entire project. We definitely wouldn't hesitate to have him come back and do more work for us and of course owing a home means there is always more work to be done.
We chose Seven Pillars to do our basement renovation based on the information on their website. Eric and his team were professionals from start to finish and did an amazing job for us. Our basement is now a place we are proud to have our family and friends visit. To tell you the truth, it is now the nicest part of our home. I would highly recommend Eric to anyone looking for someone to do home improvements.
We hired Eric based on the reviews we read on this site and our impression of him when he came to see our kitchen and scope the work we wanted done. Now that everything's done, we can say that the very positive reviews and our first impressions turned out to be completely accurate.
Eric had great suggestions for the kitchen, including things we hadn't thought of, and gave us a detailed estimate. He listened to us when we told him what we wanted (thanks for all the drawers!) and managed to come up with a layout for our smallish kitchen that works really well.
The whole process took two months - the only delay was waiting for the countertop to be ready. Now that it's installed, I have to say it was well worth the wait. And friends who have had kitchen renovations done (by other companies) tell me that two months for a complete kitchen renovation is pretty good!
Throughout the process, Eric was always good at returning calls, answering questions, and making adjustments when needed. Both Eric and Paul (the main worker on out kitchen) were a pleasure to work with. They did a great job and the end result is exactly what we wanted. We will have no hesitation in hiring Eric again (in fact, we're planning on doing so next spring).
Service was prompt, professional and courteous. It was a tough job on an old house and we are very pleased with the results! Will definitely recommend Seven Pillars to our friends.
Thanks Eric and Dave, great job.
We hired Eric & his team to do multiple projects for us. Removal of load bearing walls, California knockdown ceiling with pot lights, installation of kitchen cabinetry with tiled backsplash and a modern hood fan. Our kitchen also includes an extra large island with newly plumbed sink & dishwasher with pendant lights over top, the island compliments the open concept design. Eric also added & installed a new kitchen window, doors with casings, made & installed new railings, drywall(insulation with vapor barrier),installation of bathroom vanity & accessories, laminate & tiled flooring and a complete electrical upgrade. The electrical, plumbing and laying of the laminate & tiled flooring was subcontracted out. Eric was very courteous throughout our reno's , has good knowledge and expertise, and he also is creative, thorough & precise in what he does. He turned our 70's looking house into a warm chic home. We would strongly recommend Eric's services and will not hesitate to call him in the future!
We have been most fortunate to have worked with Eric for the past five years on a major renovation to our house which included a large kitchen and a high ceiling parlor followed by many subsequent improvements including a roof chimney modification and several bathrooms. These extensive dealings without a doubt has proven Eric to be consistently capable of any work with substantial creative input into making our vision come to light. To see him coordinate and work with his seasoned team on time and budget is a rare event based on our past dealings. Eric's integrity, professionalism, attention to detail and above all the friendly way with which he get the job done put him and his company at the very top of our list. We highly recommend Seven Pillars Contracting and will not hesitate to call them for future projects!
I had a very good experience with Eric at Seven Pillars. He was great to deal with, very prompt with responses, and easy to deal with. The work performed was excellent, the taper was prompt always let us know when he was coming and going, with ample notice. Overall I am very happy with the finished product, and would recommend Seven Pillars of others needing work done.
Excellent work and very quick! The tradesmen was prompt on time and all around a great experience!
Also did a lot of cleanup amd kept in touch every step of the way!
Excellent service provided by Eric & his team. This is the second time I've hired Eric and once again he has not let my family down. He turned a poorly laid out basement bathroom floor plan (from previous owner) to a modern design which has increased the desirability and value of my home. I intend on using him again for outside season work on my house once spring arrives. You will not be disappointed in Seven Pillars Custom Building!
We had Eric & his team build a legal secondary suite in the basement - completely from scratch. Eric was very open to working with us, as we wanted to take care of some of the finishing work ourselves (sweat equity).
He always showed up when he said he would, completed what he said he would in he the timeframe estimated, and communicated well with us. All small issues that popped up during the renovations were dealt with quickly & to our satisfaction. Eric was very accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to make things right. Any above scope work was discussed before being done, and billed fairly.
By and large, all subcontractors were pleasant to deal with, including working on weekends - specifically the electrician, plumber and drywall mudder.
We are very happy with the result of the renovation, and would recommend Seven Pillars to others as well. We would hire Seven Pillars again if needed for another project.
Thank you Jutta, Berndt & Marcel.
The only way we can grow as a quality business is by serving great customers like you.
We truly appreciate all the trust and work you have given us.
Wishing you the best!

Seven Pillars Custom Building Inc.
Eric is very friendly and service oriented. The work was completed on the date and time scheduled. Price was very reasonable. Did clean up when work completed. Gave me a break on his original quote when he completed the work in less time than he anticipated. Would use his services again and recommend him to others.
At Seven Pillars we strive for customer satisfaction.
We gave Alma an onsite price for the work requested. Once we completed the project soon we realized that the price given in the beginning was out of balance with the time it took to perform the work. We did not hesitate to be honest and reduce the price. We are service oriented and care about your budget !
Thank you Alma,
Eric Lavoie

Reliable. prompt, pleasant, came when they said they would, nice work
Welcoming, simple and easy going were Gwen and Norm. What more can a contractor ask for?
Thank you for the work you have given us.

Our experience dealing directly with Eric was great throughout the project. His estimates for both budget and time completion were pretty accurate and he is always accommodating with questions and concerns. His immediate team worked efficiently and they are sensitive of their language and manners around young children, which was highly appreciated. There were only a couple of small blips during the project, but that was mostly concerned with subcontractors, which still affected the overall experience and rating. All in all, we would recommend them to others because we are very happy with how everything turned out in the end.
We hired Seven Pillars for a couple of projects around the house. We had Seven Pillars install new soffits, fascia, eves, and build a custom archway to cover a new downspout we had to put in. I believe the soffits, fascia, and eves were contracted out to other companies. The company that did the eves was great. However; the company that did the soffits we were not happy with at all as they left a giant mess all around our property. I talked with Eric and he came out as soon as he could and rectified the situation by cleaning up our property as best as he could. Which I think is the only thing that you can do in that situation and was very happy with how Eric handled the situation.
The job that was done by the Seven Pillars crew on the archway was Awesome. The craftsmanship was great, they were friendly, clean, worked with us to build it the way we wanted it to look. But also gave us great idea's to make it better then what I had originally thought.
For these reasons I have given them 5 stars on everything but the Cleanliness because of what happened with the soffits/fascia and just gave and average there. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.
Eric & his crew did a great job removing a window from our bathroom and retiling the shower. They gave us a few options we hadn't considered, made some very welcomed suggestions, and were extremely friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to hire Seven Pillars again.
Seven Pillars Custom Building does fantastic work. On time, on budget, super clean at the conclusion of each workday, and very friendly. Love the work and am currently designing our next project with them. We're lucky to have found them.
Eric and his team were extremely professional through the entire process. The basement was completed in a timely manner and looked fantastic. The final product more than met my expectations and I would recommend Seven Pillars to anyone looking to get work done on their home. A+
This is the second time we've hired Seven Pillars and again an absolute joy to have working on my home. The first time they came in to fix a textured ceiling that needed repairs. When they were done I couldn't even till where they had worked. It was so perfect and they left the work area spotless. Just recently had them build the structure of my deck. Eric is very easy to deal with and in fact the value for service is way beyond any company I have had to deal with before. You get way more than you pay for and he makes it right no matter what. I will definitely hire Eric and Seven Pillars again and have recommended him to my boss for his project.
Seven Pillars (Eric) was contracted to reface our kitchen, which included new ceiling complete with pot lighting, new under cabinet lighting, and new white cabinetry doors. Eric was also contracted to redo our upstairs bathroom, which included new tile flooring, installation of a new vanity, custom cabinetry, plumbing modifications, and new faucets for the vanity and tub.
Eric and his team did an excellent job, especially considering they had to work around a very non-square kitchen ceiling and base cabinets; given those complications, we had to wait a while for some new cabinet re-orders. That said, my wife is extremely happy with the new bright and modern kitchen!
As for the bath, the plumbing upgrades are the highlight for my young boys; they love having a shower-wand addition in the jet soaker tub! The upgraded bathroom is now modernized and more functional for our young kids.
If you're looking for an honest and thorough renovation, call Eric at Seven Pillars!
Eric was the first person I called based on his past work and our experience. I have passed his name along to my Parents and friends. I would not hesitate to hire him again....I am pleased to have him as a "go-to" person. He calls when he says he will, shows up when he says he will..what can I say...no hesitation to hire him again..
used seven pillars for kitchen renovation and made a huge mistake. it took 4 months to finally just install cabinets and a countertop. the dishwasher was installed and leaked into my basement causing massive damages. seven pillafrs plumber came, said he fixed dishwasher and it leaked again and caused major damage. after plumber admitted it was his fault, eric from seven pillars lied and try saying it was not his fault and he he not responsible. this guy is a scabby crook. and I will take him to court and I have filed a complaint with better business bureau. trust me this company is bush league and run by crooks.
I Eric Lavoie am the owner and manager of Seven Pillars Custom Building, and I take great pride in the quality of work we give to each of our clients.
We were approached by Shawn in February of 2014 after he found us on TRUSTED PROS. He based his decision on the great reviews that we have. We provided him with a first estimate on February 8 2014. Shawn wished to do most of the work himself and solely hired us for a few tasks.
The first deposit payment was received on April 14, 2014. We purchased and delivered the Ikea cabinets on April 17, 2014. We installed the cabinets on April 21, 2014. Ikea had 2 cabinets on back order for 2 weeks, the cabinets were purchased and delivered on May 1, 2014. These 2 cabinets were installed on May 5. We had our granite counter tops company come and do a template on May 13, 2014 and install the custom granite tops on June 3, 2014. Our plumber finished all hookups on June 4, our electrician completed his part of the work on June 5 and I personally completed the hardware installation on June 6, 2014.
Based on these dates, it did not take 4 months to perform the work that we were hired for. It took just under 8 weeks including 2 weeks delayed by Ikea and over 3 weeks from the granite template to its installation. I have all the documentation needed to back up my facts.
After the granite tops were installed on June 4, I received a text message from Shawn saying,
"Granite looks amazing. Thanks. Your service and work I would give good reference 100%, thanks"
Shawn was completely satisfied with the workmanship that he received.
We performed a few different plumbing tasks including the hookup of Shawn's dishwasher. Since its installation, the dishwasher had been used multiple times without any incident. Shawn contacted me 3 weeks later saying that there was a water leak caused by the drain hose of the dishwasher. Because we value our customers and their satisfaction, regardless of the fact that it was not a workmanship issue, I offered Shawn to take care of all the water damage repairs and to take a look at the dishwasher drain hose, at no cost.
Our plumber did the repair and informed me over the phone that he assumed that the hose end connections on the dishwasher could be defective from the factory. He then ran 2 full drain cycles on the dishwasher to make sure that it was not leaking before he left. A few hours after our plumber left, I received another nasty text message from Shawn saying that he had left his young son alone at his house with the dishwasher running and that it had leaked through the basement again. I messaged him back telling him that we were now facing a factory defect which is causing the leak. Shawn could not agree nor wished to understand that this situation was caused by a faulty product, and not caused by our workmanship. I then offered to send our plumber again, but he refused. Our plumber is certified and has a great reputation. We have never experienced any issues of the sort in the 6 years that our plumber has been working for us. Due to the manufacturing defect on the dishwasher, Shawn should not blame us for his unfortunate situation. Shawn still has a substantial outstanding balance and refuses to pay us.
At Seven Pillars Custom Building, our reputation precedes us. We take great pride in the work we do and we do it with honesty and integrity.
This company is very professional.
The job was done quickly and efficiently
We are happy with the job done
We are very pleased with the finished product of our basement reno. Eric is a man of integrity , personable, payed close attention to detail and finishing touches, worked in a timely manner and stayed within budget. Also happy with the subcontractors for flooring, tile, painting. Any changes to design or budget were discussed as we went along. We love our new look for rec room and craft space as well as washroom. We highly recommend Seven Pillars Contracting and won't hesitate to call them for future projects!
Excellent service. Timely and priced right. I was very pleased.
Excellent service in all areas.Wonderful to work with and would Definately recommend to other people and will use their services again.
Eric is "my guy" now - he will get all my calls for renovations. He and his subs were a treat to work with..they showed up either early or on time. Uses his time effectively. Friendly and knowledgable (answered all my questions).... I am super glad we found him. I have already refered him to a friend of mine.....do not hesitate to try Eric. He did work work at my residence and at a rental property. He listened to our issues and offered solutions based on his experience and even offered solutions that I hadn't considered....we are beyond happy..thanks Eric
We had bought two lovely new doors to replace the old front and back doors in our older bungalow. They had been sitting in our garage for almost a year, much to my chagrin, as my husband just couldn't find the time to dedicate to the replacement process. Finally, he realized there would never be "lots of time" to get renovations done, and sent a message to Seven Pillars. (Hallelujah!) Eric was at our house within a week, and did a thorough and efficient job. My husband can be a perfectionist when it comes to building things, and he was very happy with the neatness of the installation and how the doors and frames looked at the end. Eric was also very personable, made good suggestions when we had the option to do one thing or another, and was fairly priced. We will use Seven Pillars for other future renovations for sure!
Eric was highly recommended to us by one of his current clients. His professionalism, expertise and friendly customer service is evident in all aspects of his work. Detail oriented, he and his employees are diligent, efficient and very respectful of our home and pets.
Eric quotes each step of the project separately, provides recommendations for a cost-effective approach culminating in a high-end completion. He invoices each step as it is completed, which we found most helpful with our budgeting. We are most impressed with Eric and his employees and have retained Seven Pillars to finalize the renovations to our home.
The work quoted was expanded to include the installation of lights, five new doors and baseboards as I found Eric's work to be of good quality, within budget and on time. I am quite happy with the work to date and will be contacting Seven Pillars for my future renovations.
If you are wondering if there are any good contractors left, look no further. Seven Pillars Custom Building provided us with accurate quotations, timely service, courteous staff, and above all, incredible attention to detail. You won't need to wonder if the job is done right, because you will be able to see the quality workmanship. We are planning a full bathroom renovation and will definitely be using these contractors again.
Eric has been performing various renovations for us since February 2012 and continued well into 2013.
We started small with a full bathroom with tile floor and a beautiful tile bath surround in our unfinished basement with a time constraint that Eric easily accommodated.
Once that project was complete, we had no hesitations continuing with Eric and proceeding to the next phase. This phase included a spare bedroom and transforming our basement into a rec. room, complete with beautiful hardwood floors, wall mounted TV, and a stunning dry bar and wine wall. Since its completion, we've received nothing but complements. In fact, we were so pleased with how everything came together and how well the basement looked, we decided match it up and Eric paint the rest of the house.
The whole house looks brand new!
Eric was always willing to listen to our suggestions or offers suggestions in return. He made fantastic recommendations throughout every project that we gladly agreed with and we couldn't have been happier with the results. Quotes we’re accurate and schedules were met on time. His experience, professionalism, attention to detail and personality are just a few of the reasons we would recommend him for any home renovation project and will be glad when we hire him again in the future.
Sincerely,
Brad & Sonia
