Tommy Gunn Reno's and Demo's

Tommy did a couple of projects in my house. Last year he expanded my daughter bedroom and created a nice walk-in closet.

Based on the good experience, I called him a couple of weeks ago to replace the laminate in my basement bathroom with tiles after what I thought it was just a water leakage. Tommy immediately realized I had much bigger problems and we were facing a cracked drain that had infiltrated all drywalls and floor concrete. Tommy demolished the bathroom and in two weeks he rebuilt a beautiful and modern bathroom. He did all plumbing, electrical, tiles and painting, one man band.

He works clean and does the job exactly how described.

Will call him again for my next project.

I hired Tommy to frame and drywall my basement. I have to admit, he was courteous and always on time. He only left the jobsite once in the middle the framing to allegedly complete other work. I would say that if you have a simple job to do then he is good enough. Where Tommy dissapointed me was in his communication and his understanding of the finer details of the work to be done. Tommy framed most of my basement the way that I asked however he took a short cuts that resulted in paying for add ons in order to get the job done the way I wanted to. I want to be clear. I agreed to any costs that he determined to be an add on. To me, Black paper between the wall and foundation is a must. For Tommy, I guess not. Please make sure that in hiring Tommy you have him write in the contract exactly what work is going to be done. Tommy also seems to think that framing windows is not part of the walls, to me, they are. He did an excellent job of convincing me that they are not. In hindsight, it may be that the windows were too difficult for him or that he himself would settle for less. I have since had to contract that job out too. Tommy also chose to ignore my request to frame a heating duct, instead he went ahead with his own solution that was not what I asked for. I also didn't appreciate the "hey I forgot to charge you for the labour" on the black paper after I had already paid him for the framing he did. In my stupidity, I agreed. Tommy's drywall skills are okay. He seems to think that cornerbeads aren't his responsiblity but I admit it is my fault for agreeing on that job with a handshake and not challenging him enough to get what I really needed. My mistake was thinking that he would price a job properly. In the end, Tommy always left my basement clean when he was framing and drywalling disposing of any mess he created. He and his crew were respectful to my family, worked hard and always answered my phone calls and returned my messages. I wish them all the best as they work for others, at this time, not for me.
