We had a contractor go to the wrong address, remove our front steps, destroy our landscaping, all without a work order. After they discovered they were at the wrong address they went ahead and put up forms for concrete. We do not want them on our property.
How can we get them to pay for exactly what was there? Any advice?
He offered us an amount that doesn't even cover estimates. We sent through the BBB. We don't want to pay court or lawyer fees. We should not have to pay anything.
Well, I think the only option is to sue their insurance company. Mistakes do happen, albeit this is a bit unusual; each legitimate company carries liability insurance for this type of stuff.
In most cases the contractor would likely just want to complete the work to bring it up to what was there. Not sure why you would not want them to try to correct the issue before taking legal issue.

Thank you for your suggestion. We were out of town when this all happened. We do not want them back on our property. He went ahead and covered everything in stone dust and put up forms for what he thought was there. We did not even have the opportunity to assess the damage. They covered plants, parts of our home in stones.
I understand the mistake. We feel they should pay for someone else to do the repair. We tried to negotiate through the BBB and have estimates. I do not trust them to do the repair. It has been well over a month with not solution. We do not want to go to court, he is pushing to do so. Basically he is saying let them do what they want and shut up or we go to court.
