The original portion of our house (approx. 700 sq. ft.) is built on posts with a poured concrete exterior wall (there are vents in the walls for air circulation); it initially was a cottage and is probably 50 yrs old. There is no access under the floor to allow us to properly insulate the floor using batts, vapour barrier, etc.; the floor is very cold in the winter. Is there a type of insulation that could be blown in that would not break down due to absorption of moisture from the ground?
It would be cheaper for you to tear up the floor and insulated it that way!
If the floor has never been insulated and or vapour barrier not installed, you may find bigger issues with the existing wood floor. Maybe the floor joists may need replacing??? have a good look before doing anything.
good luck
Personally I would tear up the floor and do the job right, blowing in insulation will result in moisture build up.
