Thank you Rob and your employees!
I contracted Allison's Residential Handyman Service to remove a wall in my basement Dec. 2, 2011. It was just a pony wall , but the job entailed painting, drywall repair, electrical work and more. Not to mention the need for the job to be complete before 3pm the next day as I was entertaining a large number of guests. Rob & his crew were not only prompt, curteous and professional, they were respectful with keeping the mess to a minimum and for the welfare & comfort of my pets. I'm very pleased to say the job was completed with time to spare and the end result was more than I'd hoped for. When the job was completed Rob even helped move some furniture and hang a television for me. Everything was cleaned and put away and looked better than before the wall came down!
The cost for labour and materials was very reasonable and I don't think I could've found a better price anywhere for the service I recieved.
I would definitely recommend Allison's Residential Hanyman Service to anyone!
Thanks again Rob for a job well done!
Thanks Rob!
We used Rob's company for a gate/fence repair, and another time to do some repair work on light fixtures. Both times, these guys were very professional, friendly and courteous. They provided estimates that made sense and explained every step they would be taking. They got the jobs done very affordably and seemed genuinely concerned whether I was satisfied with the result. I would recommend them.
I contracted with Rob Allison of Allison’s Residential Handyman Service Inc.
The job was to remove my old sundeck and build a new one. He did so, but it did not meet structural building code. Mr. Allison did not accept responsibility for this although it was contractually specified.
While installing the new deck, he accidentally damaged a hose bib but failed to have it repaired. Mr. Allison was prompt, courteous, contentious, and professional in the beginning. Later he became invasive and deceitful. Mr Allison is not professional.
He did inform me that one of his crew may have stolen from my house. Although Mr. Allison offered to cover any loss, when time came he did not. His remaining crew broke and stole objects from my house.
In the meantime Mr. Allison rented part of the house, was contracted to install baseboards. It is clear he has no experience at this and left a major mess. Ripping up vinyl cove stripping, leaving glue etc and tearing the wallboard surface paper up into the painted area. The longer he stayed the worse it got.
He finally left without giving due notice. He left without completing his contracted work.
From the moment Rob came to estimate the garage finishing job to completion I felt like I was dealing with someone who cared about the work. Rob went beyond the minimum required to finish the job, even when some unforeseen complications arose. Rob and his crew were diligent, polite, hard working and flexible and often put in very long days to get the job done. I would hire Rob In an instant to do other renovations or repairs around our home.
Thank you Sir,
It was a pleasure to work for you. Unfortunately with the higher elevation the drywall mud took more time to dry. We thank you for being so patient as we went past our completion date.
Looking forward to further projects down the road.
Sincerely Rob Allison
I hired Allison's Handyman Services to install solid wood crown moldings. Rob Allison came to my residence, measured and said he could perform the work. I ordered the molding and paid to have it delivered to my home. I stained the moldings and called Mr. Allison to schedule the job. He informed me that two of his employees would be at my home on Oct. 14, 2011 between 8 and 8:30 am.
Mr. Allison's two employees arrived as expected. They began cutting into the 140 linear feet of moldings I had. By 12:30 pm I had many pieces of molding cut up but nothing on the wall. They had put gouges in my walls where I now have to fill and re-paint. The two employees then called Rob to say they required assistance. Rob came to my residence, apologized for the problem and sent the two employees home after telling them they would not be paid for the day. Rob admitted to me that they had only worked for him for a few months but they had said they knew how to do crown moldings. Rob asked one of the employees what he was doing the following day. He said he had nothing planned so Rob informed me he would be back the next day, Saturday Oct. 15th to complete the job.
Rob then emailed me that evening to tell me he would not make it on Saturday, that I would have to wait until the next Saturday. I told him that he would probably not have enough wood to properly do the job since his employee had cut up 9 out of the 15 full length boards.
After being to my place on the 14th of October and knowing the limited parking situation, Rob showed up the following Saturday as scheduled but with an 8X8 trailer behind his truck. There was no parking that would fit that size vehicle and trailer. He then informed me that he would go drop off the trailer, put his tools in his truck and be back in an hour. One and a half hours later, his employee called me and said Rob had lost his phone and that it was too late to come back and do the job. He said I would have to wait an additional two weeks to have the job done or have someone else do the job. I informed his employee that I would get someone else to do the job but that Rob needed to replace the boards that had been cut up. I told him to have Rob call me. Rob did not call. I emailed Rob to request that he replace the wood his employee cut up. Rob replied that he would replace/supply me with wood if my new contractor was short. I informed Rob that this was not acceptable and that a new contractor would not be expected to piece meal together a job due to Rob's employee cutting up material.
Rob then emailed me back saying he felt sick about what happened and that I should order the material and provide the company with his phone number so he could pick it up and deliver it. I did the ordering and emailed Rob on the Monday night, the next week, saying he could pick up during the week. I never heard back from Rob so I emailed him again which I received no reply. I sent him text messages asking him when he was going to pick up the moldings as they had been put on hold for him. Again, no reply. I then sent Rob a text message stating that he had left me no choice but to file in small claims court. Rob replied and said he would mail me a cheque. At this point I did not trust that I would ever receive a cheque or one in good standing so I informed Rob that if he was now going back on his word of picking up the moldings and delivering them, I would require a money order or certified cheque. He continued to send texts stating he was being fair and trying to accommodate. My trust was broken and I informed Rob I would continue through small claims court. Rob then arrived with cash at my residence and requested I sign a receipt which I was more than happy to do. This has taken two weeks to resolve and a lot of stress and anxiety. When you are female and live alone, you just hope that contractors will not act in this way. I hope nobody has to go through what I have been through with this company. See pics poor corner, cut wood.
I recall the conversation going something like " give Distinctive Wood my phone # and tell them to phone me when the wood was available. They never called. In the mean time I had relocated my domicile and had no internet connection to see any of your emails that you had already sent me. You didn't call me either until things seemed to get out of hand.
This customer sent me some amorous texts after my brief "quote" visit which I just laughed off.
The money has been paid to you and still you have to send a negative review.
On more than one occasion I offered you a check, all I req'd was your postal code but you were adamant about "your brother's law firm" advising you to sue me.
This sure sounds more like a personal attack than anything else.
Best of luck in the future.
Rob Allison
He is done very poor job,low quality ,at the end surprise me with extra charge and did not finish his job either.seem to me he misleading people with low prices than at end overcharging.
Mr.Khazir was happy with the work right up until it was time to pay the bill. At the end of the initial posted job which was install 604 sq ft of laminate flooring, he asked us to return and install more laminate at top of landing which I informed him at the time there would be an additional charge.
This job was finished with the exception of a piece of stair nosing that had to be ordered by local building supply store. This job was also finished a week ago last Monday.
Mr. Khazir argued with me in his garage in front of 1 of my employees about me overcharging him and that he was willing to pay only $1000. The bill was $1280.41 After a very heated argument he wrote me a check for $1200,still leaving a balance owing of $80.41
Mr.Khazir sent me a text message asking why I have not come with the stair nosing which I replied he would have to pay the outstanding bill of $80.41 + the price of stair nosing and minimum 1 hour to install it in advance. I did not appreciate the argument in his garage regarding the over charge which he knew about previously. Mr.Khazir should be careful as statements like the one written to you can be seen as slander.
I did not mislead him in any way shape or form, he knew of the extra charge to return and remove old laminate flooring, trim and stair nosing and replace with new 12mm laminate, baseboard and 1/4 round which took close to 4 hours for 2 men as it was a long way to the garage for cutting.
I have been more than fair with Mr.Khazir and I will not return unless the current bill is paid in full as well as charges for stair nosing and labor/delivery are paid in advance.
Mr.Khazir informed me he was in the iranian army constantly as we argued in the garage.
Rob Allison from Allison's Residential Handyman Service Inc. was exceptonal. Single moms avoid contractors, we feel intimidated and find ourselves being spoken down to. The lingo is beyond us and we never know we've been ripped off until someone tells us we've been scammed! Rob made me feel 'in the loop' at every decision. The work was done in a timely manner, and everything itemized. His crew was professional and that 'Handyman' stigma was quashed. The smartest thing I did this year was find and use this site. I am certainly not disappointed.

Rob was prompt, conscientious, polite and was very professional! Frankly, I did not expect that he would quote on a small project like the one I had asked him to do. Because of his exceptional service I have asked him to quote on my kitchen and bathroom projects. He has a very strong work ethics. I will be more than happy to use his services again and will definitely refer his company to my friends and relatives.
If a five star mark is excellent, I would rate him ten because he exceeded my expectation! nI look forward to working with you again, Rob!
