Am I responsible for a contractors mistake?

Had my front porch replaced recently. I went over the quote before they started with the contractor. I had some cement stairs from the old porch and the contractor was going to build it and keep the stairs. After they framed the porch they said they would need to remove the stairs and replace with wooden stairs. Should I be responsible to pay more for this when they were supposed to keep the original stairs?

Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear the challenge you are having with your contractor.

I would suggest reviewing the contract or term of agreement you made with your contractor. In cases like yours our team normally informs you that we can try to save the cement stairs but in some cases we make not be able to reuse them due to unseen damage behind.
