Bad roof and siding repair

I recently had a large maple that fell on the corner of my house. It broke some of the framing damaged soffet and facia as well as roofing tiles. We hired a roofer to do the entire job they said they have a siding contractor they work with. This happened early July. It took a month for them to fix the frame work and roof. Upon completion there was a large bump as well as the tiles on corner not being straight or same size. We contacted them they said the would fix. Another month goes by and no one comes out to complete facia or soffets or correct roof. Several weeks later they finally come out to cut a piece of the siding off to match. I do not believe they got the code on the back of the siding. Last week they put it up with and when I returned home it was the wrong shade but close but worse it was the wrong texture. Our contract just states price and not payment terms. What recorse do I have for the quality of their job? Are they liable for the incorrect facia since they did not notify me before putting up the one that they supposedly could not match. They are coming to speak to us in person tonight but tried to argue on phone they did everything right.

We do these repairs all day long in Alberta.

Issue 1. I employ roofers, siders and framers and I find none of them can do the others job very well. The roofer will not do the framing as good as a framer so maybe that is why there is a hump there.

Issue 2. Matching old to new is difficult if not impossible. Product styles come and go and products fade over time. Therefore forget about getting a perfect match on the siding or the fascia. If the original product is only a year or two old or never sees sunlight then it might be easier to match. If you are claiming this under insurance, let them know a close match is not possible and they should replace entire sections. If this isn't an insurance claim then decide if you can live with the mismatch or fork out to replace the surrounding section. Your contractor should have informed you of this potential problem but it's not his fault your old product cannot match your new product.

As for recorse, I suppose you could refuse to pay him, however, you will have to pay some other contractor to do the full job anyway so maybe ask him how much extra it will cost to do the whole job right.

It sounds to me like they have no respect for what you want out of this repair and poor workmanship on top of that. I'd say you fire them and hire some professionals to do it right that'll treat you and your home with the proper care. Then back charge these guys for having to pay more to fix their work.

I really hope you haven't paid them yet. They really don't deserve it.
