We have a floor to ceiling tiles walk in shower. The floor of the shower has been leaking leading to water seepage through a light fixture on the living room ceiling below. What sort of costs would be associated with ripping it out, fixing the sub floor and replacing?
Without looking at it, your looking at $6000 minimum.
Major can of worms though with what water can do and how far it can spread.
Good Morning,
Here's what needs to be done:
Check the caulking at the point where walls meets floor. If it has holes or gaps, that could be where the waters getting in. if its fine, then something is going on with the plumbing. or the grout in the floor tiles, but even then the rubber under the shower pan should direct water to the drain. Also depending on how old the house is, and if the shower is the original shower or if its been poorly renovated by someone inexperienced. You ultimately won't know until its all ripped out. you could removed the light fixture in the floor below. If it directly below the shower drain you'll be able to see where its leaking from and possiblly fix the problem from below without demolishing the shower... Maybe you could respond with some pictures.
Hope this helps.
