Hey all. I have a gap in the top corner of my vinyl siding. You can see the exposed side trim in the included pic. There's black paper behind the siding. It's right under the roof so it gets only windblown rain and little sun light (blocked by a neighbouring townhome unit). Its at the top of a three story town home so getting up there is pretty much impossible for me. I had someone try to cover the gap before, but apparently the piece is too short so it would leave a gap in the middle of the home which I chose not to do.
Will it be a big deal if I don't try to cover this gap?
Realistically it's doubtful that will cause any problems based on your description. If the piece was cut too short then the solution is to replace it with a longer piece. If the siding is older then the siding may not be available and not match anyway because of fading. So cosmetically, replacing it may make it look worse not better.
Functually, if its right up under the eaves and proper house wrap was done under the siding then it's not likely to cause problems.
Looks like the picture just loaded. There is 60 min paper underneath.
