We are located in Prince Edward County. We need to add living space but are restricted in the size of the addition we can add as well as the placement of our well and septic make it challenging. What is involved in lifting and adding a basement? Any ballpark cost (the house is approximately 1000 sq ft on pillars). Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

In Alberta we have clay & soil. If you can add a actual basement the entire house gets dug out and then lifted with house jacks and temp blocked/beamed in place then excavated underneath with machines...then a foundation wall, weeping tile, moisture protection & a pad done...it will run min. from $50-$80,000 all inclusive. If its pretty high on pillars already then maybe less cost but regardless it is a expensive $$$ job.
