Hi, we are looking to build a separate entrance to our basement. Can someone let me know what kind of contractor that can do this for us?

Thank you and I look forward to hear from you soon.

Someone who is familiar with the building codes

Able to apply for a permit.

Able to create and get approved appropriate drawings and details for permit.

Make sure they properly connect to weeping tile.

Make sure any new concrete retaining walls are properly designed and built.

Good luck.

I wholeheartedly agree with Tom. Be careful of the person who says "I can do that! No problem." Chances are there will be problems. Make sure that once you get an idea of what you need from the town/city re: permits, etc. that you ask very specific and pointed questions of the Contractor. He should be able to give detailed and specific answers (not "Well, ya gotta understand . . ."). If he is vague of tends not to actually answer your question (you can ask the same question a few different ways to see if his answer is consistent), then move on to the next one.

This is the kind of project that can potentially be disasterous if not done right. It won't be cheap if it is done right.

Take care
