We live on a lake in the Lanark Highlands and we're currently reviewing our options to avoid future flooding. Do we raise the house, put in a new foundation and drainage, or do we tear the whole house down and start again? The first option is coming in higher than expected. Thanks.
New home construction starts around 200/sf and goes up from there depending on the level of finish desired.
Raising a home and constructing new infrastructure should cost less. The question is by how much. Hard to say.
Look into cost to move the existing house ,and cost to build a new foundation.
