What's the difference in price - Architect vs Home Designer?

I'm looking to get full home renovation, including changing the roof line. What is the cost difference between using an architect versus a home designer (Architect Technician)? I know a home designer can't sign off on the plans and needs a professional engineer to do his calculations to sign off. What is the cost difference to redesign my 1500 sqft bungalow, with builder ready blueprints?

Thanks!

Hi Clint , about half the cost . technician will need engineer to stamp and if city require site visits will charge for that also but a lot cheaper ,although as a contractor we always prefer architectural plans. dependant on severity of job and your budget . regards Rory
