Looking to be the project manager for the renovation of my bathroom and would like to know who I should be hiring to create the shower base. Is it a carpenter, plumber or both?
Hello,
That would likely be both and perhaps other trades as well depending on what type of shower base you want. If you are using a fibreglass base then a carpenter to install it and plumber to connect to the drain.
If you want to build a custom size base likely a carpenter to create it, a tiler to tile it and plumber to install/connect the drain.
Regards
Both. Plumber will do his job and after a carpenter or tile setters will do the slope and waterproofing. Hope it helps.
Tile contractor, because we know everything about tiling and waterproofing.
A professional and experienced tile setter can do all that...will save you time and money.
Blackstone flooring.
Plumber usually does the bladder and the tile setter dri packs the base.
That said I would look into a schluter system or wedi system and see if you can find a trained installer for those products.

Tom
Plumber to install the drain and tile guy to take care of the base
Hi Sheriff. All depends what type of shower base you are want to install? If there's already existing Plumbing or not? If it's a new shower you might want to think of installing a lineal drainage to eliminate a curb to the shower, this will cost additional money but as well worth it and is fantastic for seniors! Normally a carpenter will frame it tile Setter will waterproofing in the plumber will install your plumbing. I recommend you call in the local trusted Pro contractor in your local area.
Hi there,
You will need a Tile installer and a plumber!
You don't need a carpenter for a shower base!
Everything needs to be waterproof and you really don't want wood anywhere near it even when everybody back in the day started framing their shower curb!!
I hope that helps good luck

Get your plumbing in place then your tiler will more than likely put in the membrane and build the base.
Hello Sheriff,
The type of shower base you choose is crucial. Are you working with existing plumbing, or is this a brand new installation? For a new shower, consider opting for linear drainage. This approach can eliminate the need for a shower curb, which, while more costly, offers great value, especially for seniors. Typically, a carpenter will handle the framing, a tile setter will manage the waterproofing, and a plumber in Vaughan
will take care of the plumbing installation. I strongly suggest consulting with a reputable, professional contractor in your area to ensure the best outcome.
Best regards.
