I live in a 40 year old concrete condo with the original metal bathtub. It still looks great, but recently the bottom has started to squeak. I have read many other forums and they generally deal with the newer acrylic type tubs.
Could this be a sign of a possible leak or bigger problem?
Any ideas for a quick fix, or does this sort of issue generally require a new tub installation?
Hey Penny,
If you had a wood floor under it, it would squeak with expanding and contracting of the substrate. Since it is concrete, this is not an issue. Steel tubs generally are not subject to compromise either. If you can access the underside of the tub, spray foam is a quick fix.
Watch for discoloring of floor and walls at baseboard, this is an indication of water leaks which is most likely plumbing not the tub itself.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Trev
