$25/square foot. Give or take depending on the difficulty of the build, and whomever is quoting you.

Hi Chris,

Your looking at about 22,000.00 with high quality finish.

But a suggestion if I may. My own 800sq' cedar deck was looking very rough this year. I have surfaced it with deckover. And it looks good again. But it was costly to do. And lots of my time. I wish I had done what I suggest to my clients. And that is building all the posts, beams and framing with pressure treated. Then cover the deck, stairs, rails etc in composite.

Then years down the road it will still look great and you won't have to go through what I and the majority of people go through over time.

Hi Chris

The deck cost on several factors.

1) Location

2) Material to carry site condition

3) How many post to be done, attached to the existing building

4) Stairs and steps, railing etc.

5) Need to take the permit in some cities

If you take all that information and visit any Big box they will give you the exact quantity of material with installation labour.

Don't waste your hard earned $ on cedar, go for vinyl or PVC decking. Cedar is a lot of maintenance and basically costs the same as composite or vinyl after 1 season

Hi Chris,

700sqft would require roughly 130pcs 12'x 5 1/2" boards( this is only the decking, not skirting or decking for stairs)

Each board is about $27 each x 130pcs x $1.13= $3 966.

Labour is roughly $6.50- $8 / sqft.

$4 777- $6 328.

Roughly 4 gallons of stain for 2 coats, 4x$65= $260.

Labor for stain roughly $450.

This is the cost for my most recent cedar deck project.
