Hello there, I have been asked to install Vinyl stair tread and nosing in the older building that has on one side terrazzo stairs with the old steel casing which is all rusty. On the other side of the building there are wooden stairs.
So for the wooden stairs glue down would be fine I guess with the specific glue, but on the terrazzo side I was told to grind down to make it coarse for the glue to hold what is your opinion on that and how much would be the labor alone for that?
It is much appreciated if anyone has an idea on this.
Best regards
Dan
You do need to remove the rust before gluing or the glue will fail at some point. However it should only take minutes per tread with a belt sander and/or grinder. At least as far as I can tell from your description. A picture would be better. So the labor wouldn't be much unless there were a lot of stairs.
Hi Dan!
I wouldn't charge by the hour I would charge it as a whole. If they are requesting an estimate give them a set price. If you've already been hired, then once you complete the job just send an invoice. It's hard to suggest an amount without a picture of what your looking at, I hope this helps a bit.
Thank you very much for the response I appreciate it very much.
Best Regards
Dan
