Complete townhouse basement reno including new electrical panel and installation of bathroom.
My basement is approximately 432 square feet. The electrical is 100 amp but it is fuses and i would like to change it to breakers. I'm not sure if an upgrade amp would be wise given my pending basement reno. The bathroom will be simple and small. Shower, vanity, toilet. I'm undecided about custom shower or prefab. All depends on cost in the end.

I have a basement that is 25 x 35 approxmatly. I have only insulation on the walls no framing, need to have all exterior walls done, an interior room about 10 x 15 and ceiling drywall as well. I would say roughly 30 potlights in the basement. No plumbing but electrical plugs and switches as needed. Painting all walls, flooring I want laminate flooring and just standard size baseboards and door casing.
Contractors,
I'm consideration purchasing a 1950's bunglow in Hamilton that has a finished basement. In one quarter of the basement, there is a storage area with a basic wall (framing and panelling, no electrical or plumbing).
I'm looking to have the storage-area wall removed and have two new walls put in, to construct a corner bedroom. This bedroom would need a door, level floor, electrical outlets (2), closet, cover/box for the electrical panel, ceiling, and ceiling light. I estimate the new bedroom size could be about 10' x 12' or maybe 11' x 14' (don't own the property yet).
I would appreciate receiving estimates and timelines. Licenced contractors who use permits only.
Thank you,
Jones Family
My basement is 740 sqft. I want a master bedroom with an attached bathroom and a walk in closet. And also a small room, laundry and furnance room in one and finally a small main sitting area. Material has to be good not cheap. And the rooms will be used to live, so it has to be winter safe. Meaning warm. Our house is about 30 years old and it is a backsplit. So my house is 4 levels.
We have purchased a home built in 1940's. it is two bedroom (2nd floor) and one and a half bath with a 1st floor addition (no basement extension).
the upstairs is reno'd quite nicely so the wiring has been updated from knob and tube. I would like to have the basement finished with an extra bedroom and bathroom (with space for washer dryer which currently reside down there).
Looking for someone experienced in renovation older homes. The basement is very dry. The ceiling is rather low in parts due to ductwork. The house is in westdale part of Hamilton.
I need to finish my basement. I am looking to renting the basement out while living upstairs. I live in Hamilton ON. I would like to have a common area in the basement for laundry and to add a kitchen to the basement and finish the floors and walls. There will be one bedroom and one living room with a kitchen and bathroom.
Thanks
Looking for a rough idea to finish a 800 sq. ft. unfinished basement. It would include a 3 pc bathroom (roughed-in), small office, rec room and closed off furnace/storage area that would remain unfinished. House is 6 years old.
Looking for basic finishings, affordable laminate for flooring and tile for bathroom, drywalled ceiling with pot lights, carpet on stairs down. Insulation is half way down now so not sure if should be done to floor, also if we need a sub-floor or not? Not sure again.
The overall goal is to finish the basement with two bedrooms, one bath, common room and utility room.
Its a 60 year old home, 1100sq ft, with upgraded electrical panel, but still some old wiring. I would like to re-wire, at least the upstairs outlets to be grounded.
There is cast iron plumbing that should be inspected, plus other PVC plumbing that needs looked at. Some plumbing is roughed in for basement bath, but more work needs down.
From here, the floor needs leveled, framing, insulation, wiring, HVAC, etc...
Please contact if you're interested in quoting all or part of this project.

Our basement is currently partially finished, but for the most part will be gutted. We want to create a bedroom, washroom, laundry room and recreation space. Our friend is preparing architectural drawings and will help manage the project. His preliminary drawings are attached, however we recently met and made revisions that are not yet drawn. Some of the material I may be able to obtain on my own, such as tile, hardware, etc.
The drawings are existing drawings for the whole house, but it is only the basement that we are renovating.
I also want to take advantage of energy saving equipment and materials that may also be available for government grants and incentives.
Our HVAC distribution and electrical through the whole house should also be reviewed, although any renovations to the upper floors will have to be completed at another date.
We have one room in our basement we are looking to have gutted and refinished. The room is approximately 12 x 20 square feet. We have had some dampness in the room in the past, however have noticed nothing since redoing the roof and eaves last year. When we removed the existing baseboards in the room we discovered a few patches of mold. We are looking to have the room completely redone, with carpeted flooring, new drywalled ceiling and potlights (currently we have a drop ceiling). The window in the room needs to be replaced as well.
House is over 50 years old looking to renovate for rental purposes, we would like to put in 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a laundry area approximate size is 1786 sqft, would like to be as involved in the project as much as possible, we need a contractor that is informed on all permits required.

We live in a condo/townhouse that is just under 1500 square feet and about 35 years old. We purchased the house a year ago thinking that it only needed cosmetic changes. We had a leak in the basement in the fall that the condo corporation fixed from the outside. At this time we decided to refinish the basement tearing out the old ugly panelling and replacing the insulation. When I begun framing I noticed that the basement was a couple inches off from one side to the other and the footing was cracked, which I replaced. I've been trying to get everything level but it doesn't seem to be working. The main grider was cut into 3 times, which I replaced. The load bearing wall had many issues as well, some of which I have fixed but there are many more I'm sure. I had a steel beam made which I would like to install when everything is nice and level. We had a home inspector and he told us that this was "a great house for the money with good bones". We are not sure who had worked on the house to us previously owning it but they've left us a nightmare. This is our first house and has been an aweful experience. I just want this to be over. My wife and I are expecting our first child and need this to be a safe environment for us to live in. Please help!!!
Started out from a leak in the basement which was repaired from the outside by the condo corporation (we live in a condo/townhouse). At this time we decided to fully finish and upgrade the basement with new insulation and replace the dated panelling with drywall. When framing the basement I discovered that it was a couple inches off from one side to the other and one footing was cracked, which I replaced. There were other problems that I discovered with the load bearing wall, needless to say the problem with the beam has created soft spots in the floor and bowing in some of the walls. I need to get my floors level in order to put up the steel beam I had made to support the load bearing wall and put my mind at ease. We had a home inspector and he told us that this was "a great house" for what we paid with "good bones". The townhouse is about 35 years old and whoever had worked on this house prior to us owning it has created a nightmare for my wife and I. We are expecting our first child and I need help creating a safe place for my family to live.
Basement Renovation
340 square foot space
We are looking to box in the furnace and put a door, Drywall and insulate 2 of the block walls, ceiling drywalled and 2 or 3 lights installed, 2 electrical outlets installed, painted and flooring.
One half of the basement is already finished, there is a bathroom, laundry room on one side. The other half would need finishing. No bedroom, just open concept.
I want to finish my basement as a playroom for my son. It was used by the previous owners so it is already ducted, wired and the ceiling is finished (even has phone jacks and cable). However, the walls need to be built out, insulated and drywalled.
Also, if the budget allows, I will need to replace the stairs.
I am ready to start this project but am looking for quotes first. It is a great job during the hot summer months as the basement is already air conditioned!
I would like to finish my 800 sq ft basement with quality material. 400 sq ft will be a living room and 400 sq ft will be a bedroom with double door entry. I would like to also complete a 3 piece bathroom including shower, double sink vanity and toilet which is currently roughed in.
