Hello,
We're looking to have some renovations done to our basement and hoping for a quote.
It's an older home (circa 1905) that was renovated 3-4 years ago, basement is partially finished. We're hoping to have the following done:
1) add bathroom to the basement
2) add kitchen to basement
3) add additional washer/dryer on second floor of home
Look forward to hearing from you,
Regards,
Puneet
I'm looking for a crew of licensed professionals to handle various renovations at a residential property on Hamilton mountain, based on architectural drawings to be provided. The job would involve a variety of skills, including carpentry, drywall installation, plumbing, electrical, potentially some minor duct work, painting, flooring.
A rough list of requirements follows:
Main level:
1. Replacing carpet flooring with laminate (very roughly, 250 sq feet);
2. Painting and, where necessary - trims/baseboards (throughout);
3. Demolition of existing kitchen cabinets and Installation of IKEA kitchen (approx. 11 linear feet)
4. Demolition of existing bathroom and installation of new bathtub, vanity, tiled floor, toilet;
5. Other minor carpentry and cosmetic repairs
Basement (500-600 sq. feet):
1. Full replacement of wainscotting-type walls with drywall (framing / layout would probably remain the same) throughout the whole basement;
2. Installation of a partition wall;
3. Replacing carpet floors with laminate flooring;
4. Minor electrical work;
5. Painting;
6. Installation of new IKEA kitchen (involves re-routing of existing plumbing) - approx. 12 linear feet;
7. (potentially, if required) Replacing at least one window
The job needs to start in September, but can progress in stages (i.e. fully renovate main level first, which would take less effort - then, upon completion of the main level, move on to the basement).
I'm looking to start getting quotes by the end of the current week so if your team is available, please respond with the dates that work for you for walk-through and measurements and we will connect over the phone.
IKEA cabinets and laminate flooring will be provided.
Thanks in advance!
We have a nearly 90 year old home supported by three 8x8 (4 laminated 2x4's) beam sections set on the two exterior walls and two interior block posts. The joists are 2x8's and span 11 feet from exterior wall to beam. Each section is roughly 8-9 feet. We'd like to replace two sections of the beam with a steel beam. So the new beam would span roughly 19 feet from exterior wall to block/brick post. The house is 2 stories with an attic (which is not a full floor but is about 5' 5" at the beam). We need someone to confirm the beam size and strength we need to do this job.
I have recently had a home inspection on a 1-storey bungalow, and was wondering if you could give me an idea of what I'm looking at cost-wise to repoint such a house.
Also, the basement is partially excavated, and the previous home-owners had dug out a "room" in which to place the furnace. This room is not properly structured, but is really only the size of the furnace. Is there any way you could give me an idea on cost for such a project?
Thanks!
We would like to finish the basement in our 7 year old townhouse. Basement is approx. 4-500 sq ft. The staircase from the main floor to the basement only needs the walls, ceiling and a new light fixture installed to light the staircase, and the stairs will remain painted as they currently are. In the basement we need electrical outlets all around, pot lights for all lighting, ceilings could be drywall and dropped, depending on how to best work around beams. Flooring is ceramic in the laundry and foyer area and laminate resembling hardwood elsewhere. It will be an open concept, except for the laundry area, that would need a wall built around it with doors. Similar around the furnace area. Laundry tub needs to be replaced as it is plastic and looks ugly. Faucet to be replaced as well. We're ready to start the project any time and are ready to have a face to face meeting for the quotes after 6pm weeknights. The winning contractor will get a key and access code to the house for the weekdays so that the crew can enter while we're at work. No construction on the weekends please.

I have a 100 year old small house with a very rough basement. Foundation is a mix of things. Some wall (concrete blocks) was knocked out, leaving it open to the area under the front porch - this is my main priority to have repaired. Then insulation options should be considered and something done. Finally, some dampness issues need resolution. I'd like something done this year before it gets too cold. Basement is accessible from outside stairs only and has power. If this job goes well, I have some others!
We have recently purchased a one and a half storey house. The house is aproximately 50-60 years old. The basement is unfinished. The basement has concrete flooring and walls. The ceiling is open. There is a finished staircase that leads to the basement. We want to create a living room area, close off the sink area that will be the laundry room and put a bathroom in the basement. For the flooring we are undecided on concrete staining/refinishing or a mould resistant underpading and carpet.
