Hello,
I am in urgent need of an electrician to address 2 issues:
1. Address lighting switches in my home that seem to be short circuiting (I don’t turn on these lights because I was told by a friend they are a fire hazard)
2. Replacing two ceiling fans in the house with new ones.
Regards
Everett
The emergency shut-off switch for our furnace isn't working and we'd like to have it repaired.
Also, we wish to relocate a wire that is obstructing a joist where we need to run a furnace pipe to draw air from outside our home.
So -- it's two items:
1. Fixing the safety switch for the furnace.
2. Relocating a wire so that we can have a service person from another company come in later to install that furnace pipe.
We need a little notice before anyone arrives because we need to move a cabinet to make the wire in the joist accessible.
Replace five light fixtures with new fixtures. Replace two light fixtures with new ceiling fans, total seven installations. Two fixtures are in a vaulted area (12') and would likely be a two man job. One fixture is replacing a pot light and would require support (20.25lb) light.
I have recently purchased a 39year old original owner bungalow in east Hamilton off Greenhill Ave.
The basement is finished but I am gutting it and starting over. I see this as a potential opportunity to replace the aluminum wiring (ESA certified yearly) with copper. The house has had 2 recent renovations (kitchen and main fl bathroom) where I believe copper wire was installed.
The panel is 100amp currently.
The main floor is approximately 1250sq feet (assume same for basement).
I am also interested in putting recessed lighting in the living room and as part of the basement renovation.
I am only asking for a quote on the rewiring and recessed lighting options.
Hi,
I am looking for a quote to install 2 upstairs bathroom fans one in my home and one in my neighbors home. There is no fan in there at the moment so it would have to be cut into the ceiling and the electrical installed along with the new fan.
In addition I would need a outdoor light fixture replaced with a new updated light.
Thanks
I want to know the cost to install a GFCI outlet under my bathroom sink, if possible. There's an existing GFCI outlet and box above the sink; I'd like to relocate it below. Let me know the cost!
The outlet will be used to power a mini (2.5gal) 110V / 12A water heater.
Note: this is a commercial setting.
Install an outlet in the dining room wall. Install an outlet in the kitchen wall. You will have to bring the wire up from the basement.
We had a new water service pipe installed to our house. The ground wire is still attached to the old service pipe (which is still in the ground). We want the ground wire transferred to the water meter where it now enters the house, so that we can remove the old, unused pipe to the old water meter location. Wires are accessible above the drop ceiling of our basement.
Our house was built in the 1970's,so the wiring is probably along the same timeline. We have a new range hood to install and I was going to do it myself, but the house wiring is on the left and the hood is wired on the right side. The cables are not long enough. Someone also told me that there is aluminum wiring and we need a junction box, and I should get a pro to do that. The old hood is down and the new hood is ready to go. What would an estimate on this job be?
Hi! Looking for an electrician to have a couple of kitchen outlets and a light switch relocated in my condo near downtown Hamilton. I'll be removing a superficial wall and putting in an island, so there is a baseboard heater and dial that need to be removed, then a light switch and two outlets that can hopefully be relocated. I'd also like to have an outlet installed on an opposite wall that can support my fridge without tripping the breaker.
I am the property owner.
Adding a circuit for a dishwasher and a rangehood and installing both the dishwasher and rangehood. Drain plumbing is in place for the dishwasher, but supply line needs to be added off of the existing sink line. The electrical panel is ~5ft from the location for the rangehood and ~7ft from the dishwasher. There is a drop ceiling below the kitchen where the wires can be run.
century home needs knob and tube updated. basement is finished with updated wiring. main level is not, second level is not. kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms. was quoted 7400$ but seems steep. house is empty but do not want to have to redo too much drywall etc. needs to be fairly clean.
There are 7 pot lights in a kitchen and the tenants in the house are saying that they don't turn on consistently - some are now currently out. The ceiling is high so will need a tall ladder. They believe it has to do with the lights/wiring and not the bulbs themselves. Hoping to get a quote to troubleshoot and repair as needed. Thanks!
Open Studs (basement)
20 pot lights (Recessed)
100 Amp panel replacement.
Dedicated stand up freezer plug.
Wiring.
Switches.
Electrical outlets.
4 pot lights (flush mount…not shown on drawing) in a storage area on the same level.
Permit.
Note: we can have all the material/hardware ready before hand if need be.
Hello,
I had a loose shingle that allowed water to seep through and over-time it caused a portion of the ceiling in my living room to cave in. The ceiling appears to be 2 layers of drywall with plaster over-top. Looking to have it repaired, and also looking to add in 6 pot-lights in the ceiling.
Hi,
I have a very small project, but big for me. I have a small finished room on the main floor of 2 story home: 10' by 11' and I want to install 4 LED pot lights(you can recommend the size).
Right now the room has 1 ceiling light in the centre with 1 switch. I want it so that the 2 pot lights are on 1 switch (with dimmer) and other 2 pot lights are on another switch (with dimmer). I would also like to know the estimate with and without wireless capabilities.
Thanks for your help.

We have an old microwave above the range. The wire for it is spliced into a cord in the cabinet above, that goes directly to a circuit board panel downstairs, but the line is shared with other light switches, so a new dedicated line connecting to the circuit breaker will need to made. We need to buy a new microwave, so we need to make an outlet box in the cabinet and wall so we can plug it in above the range. We need an electrician to do this job.
I have a few electrical jobs I'd like to have done in my home, as follows:
1) Six breakers on my electrical panel are double-tapped and need to be split. There is room in the panel to accommodate the additional breakers.
2) I would like to add 1-2 exterior lights to my backyard, and upgrade an existing 2-gang box inside my back door to a 3-gang box to accommodate the switch for these lights.
3) I need an outdoor outlet added to the exterior wall of my house in the backyard.
4) In my basement (unfinished), I would like to add two light fixtures (rough-in), two light-switches, and a wall outlet. I would like one new and one existing light to be controlled by one of the switches, and the other new light to be controlled by the other switch. I also have one existing light which needs to be rewired, because it was installed incorrectly.
I've indicated an estimated budget for all three jobs combined, but I would like an estimate for each one individually, please. Thank you!
Hello - I'm looking for a licensed electrician to tackle 4 small items at my house. Specifically:
1. One of the outlets in our office room is not working
2. One of the outlets in our attic is not working
3. Our electrical panel is missing a few cover plates on some of the empty slots, would like to fill these in
4. One of the ceiling joists in our basement contains wiring for what I believe is an old doorbell. Would like to have this removed as it is of no use to us, and I'd like to clear the space of electrical before putting in a new ceiling. Not sure if the wiring is live or not. I've attached an image for this particular issue to help illustrate.
Thanks!
