We lose power periodically to the furnace and washer/dryer, as well as lamps, etc. plugged into a different circuit. The furnace and washer are NOT connected to the same circuit as the lamps. Power is not interrupted elsewhere in the house and no breakers are tripped. No smell of burning, no sounds of sparking, etc. Turning the stove on for a few seconds resolves this issue! The problem does not appear to be in the stove, as it was not resolved by unplugging the stove. The stove itself loses power in the clock and stove outlet, but turning on a burner or the oven restores power. House is approx 100 years old, but wiring was updated in the 1980s. As far as I am aware, no live knob & tube remains. Will pay what is required to resolve issue.
The present panel is 100 A with contemporary flip switch circuit breakers. Need to upgrade panel due to additional electrical appliances/machinery. No new wiring required, just replacing the present panel with an upgraded one, disconnecting and reconnecting the present wires and whatever is needed re the public hydro connection.
1) We lost power to one circuit ( two plugs, on different floors and a basement bulb)
2) small kitchen renovation will require new plugs for a dishwasher, microwave and range hood.
3) ungrounded circuits will require GCFI outlet installation.
4) Home inspector pointed out an exposed live wire that will need to be made safe.
I have a dishwasher that is wired and the wire is run up to, but not connected to, the panel. We have aluminum wiring that is pigtailed and a fuse panel. We would like the installation of the dishwasher completed. There are many more electrical jobs to be done in the house, but we are starting here.
