I live in a small bungalow and would like to put an addition on - built off one side of the house. I would like to add two bedrooms and one large room in the basement. Outside would be vinyl siding. Inside just dry walled and windows in. I already have someone to do all the wiring. Square footage ( 2 rooms of 10x12) and one room 10x24 (in basement)
Just want to get a general idea so I can discuss with my bank.
Looking to add an addition to the exterior of my home, one floor.
Looking for two quotations:
Addition Idea #1 - One room 12 x 13 ft plus a bathroom approximately 8 x 6 ft and one closet. Exterior siding
Addition Idea #1 - One room 12 x 13 with one closet - approximately 3 x 3 ft Exterior siding
I would like to add 200 square feet off the back of my house which would extend into my back yard. The back wall of the house will need to be opened for this room. This addition should include a rough in for a 2 piece bathroom and support a 2nd story deck. The back of the addition will have a 6ft patio door installed to allow access to the back yard.
The house is about 80 years old and is double brick construction. The addition can be made of wood with siding or stucco depending on the costs. These additions are very common in this neighbourhood so I don't foresee any major issues.
I am looking to purchase an old bungalow that is on a nice lot that I like. However the house is small and older so I would like to find out how much it would cost to redo (change, gut and add) or knock down and rebuild a house. I am wondering if that is more cost effective rather than purchasing new from a developer. Please provide me with any information you can. In the end I would like to have approximately a 1500sq. ft bungalow. The older house already has a basement so that is already there. I need someone who has experience in major additions and renovations.

We are wanting an addition to our house. It was built in the 1960's and it would require the removal of the back outside wall-which is brick. An extension of approx 18 feet long by 12 feet wide. We want it done before the summer as we need the additional room. It would also need closets built in and a patio door. references will be required.
We would like to expand onto our present garage for more storage. It is a wood framed double car garage.
The expansion would be at the back of it, we would use the window as a doorway to the new expansion. We would like it to be the same wight as the present garage and at least 12' back.
Basic family room addition to back of house. 16 deep by 20 wide. Shed roof (assume). Basic finishing inside. 3 basic windows and 1 patio door (average). Vinyl siding. Assume to be on peirs as the cheapest solution but OK to have full foundation option as well. Heating would be least expensive solution. Our priority is price versus wow-factor. Existing house is 1 3/4 brick on first floor and aluminum siding on second. House built in 1959 and has no other additions. Access to yard is unobstructable if required to dig (kuboto type digger). Existing area have a mix of additions on piers and full. Just a ball park estimate is sufficient. we are determining if adding on or moving is the best option. Before getting in to a detailed quote, we want to understand the larger cost first.
age of house: Built in 1959.
site condition: relatively unobstructed.
- a famiy room off of the dining room (already a patio door).
- shed type roof coming off underneath the current eave.
- vinyl siding and carpet interior.
- exterior french door or nicer slider.
- estimate around 4 double hung windows (3 across the back and 1 on side.
- thinking about piers or crawlspace (but probably not full foundation\basement - concerned about cost versus value
I have a small wood framed, sided house (bungalow) with a hip roof. I would like to add a room to the back of the house. Size 10 x 12 or 12 x 14. It just needs to be a simple room - with a couple of windows and with electrical and heat, vents.
I am looking for a ballpark figure before having people to come out to get detailed quotes in place. Will be happy to answer any questions!
I am attempting to add 20x25 on the the back of my house with a dug out basement..I have gone through the quote process and now have a good range of what the job should cost.
I am not trying to find some reputable, that isn't going to tell me drawing for my project will be 5000$!!
I know what most aspects of the job should cost me. Drawing have been quoted by a reputable company @2700HST incl. Every Penny in this project counts to me. I am looking for high quality, at the appropriate price.
My home is located in downtown Hamilton. It was build in 1890 and has had two additions built to it since that time. The "newest" addition is likely 30 year old and in need of removal and rebuild.
The existing addition is 13 feet wide and 11 feet long. The room has a set of stairs which lead to the basement. The addition itself does not have a basement and it appears to have been built on a cinder block foundation.
I would like to have a new room build that is larger, 20 feet by 13. The room still needs to have the existing set of stairs to the basement incorporated into the design. There would need to be one glass sliding doors to the rear.
The project would be available ASAP and I would require a quote and Scope of Work for the project.
2 story addition approx 50 x 15.
The home is approx 50 w x 20 d with a second storey addition on the back half. It is a typical A roof with the back higher than the front because of the second storey addition. We would like to put an addition on the front of the home and carry the 2nd storey to jion in with the back to make it 2 complete floors. It would have a basement under the new addition.
Build a 18 x 20 room with basement at the back of our house. The back of the house is L-shaped and the room will make it square. The room will share two walls with the main house.
Room should have either one large window or two windows.
Also a patio door will be needed to go out onto the patio.
Would like to know separately the cost of a concrete patio with steps going down to it from the new room.
The room should be connected to the main house venting system and electricity.
No water pipes or bathroom needed.
All permissions, inspections and permits need to be included in the quote.
Addition of one room with basement to the back of the house
About 18 x 20 ft
Two windows or one large window.
One Patio double door going out to the patio.
Heating/cooling vents attached to the main venting of the house.
2-3 switches and plug points.
We were looking at an estimated ball park figure.
Home is in the West of Hamilton.
Permits and permissions and inspections will also have to be done.
Build extension to the back of the home on an L shaped house in west Hamilton. 18 x 18. Open it to main house from kitchen. Build a same sized basement below it and open that to existing basement. One wall of large windows with patio/sliding door. One wall red brick with a window. Other two walls shared with the house. drywalled and painted inside. Switches to be added with plug points. Venting to be added and connected to main ducts. Flooring could be either tile or laminate or engineered hardwood. Use of room is office/ family room.
Project needs to be designed and permits need to be approved by city of Hamilton.
Would like approximate quote as well as amount of time needed to complete the work.

We're looking for a general contractor estimate for 5 major projects:
- Second level addition for two bedrooms.
- Basement finishing - bedroom, family room, adding a second bathroom and finishing laundry and storage area.
- opening up kitchen, living room area (removing two walls - if possible).
- creating back door access and deck in back yard
- adding a porch area to front of house.
Our home is a small 2 bedroom house on Dalewood ave. I don't know the square footage. There have been no prior renovations that we're aware of. The house is was built in the 1950s I think? We were hoping to stay in the area rather than sell so we're looking to upgrade and add up on our house. To be honest, we don't know if it's possible stucturally, or within city bi-laws.
