The ceiling paint in one of my bathrooms started to peel and I decided to fix it myself. I started to scrape the existing paint and more problems started to show up. It looks like the previous owner painted over without fixing it. Now, I live in a condo and we did have some problems with water leaking from the above unit, but it went to a different area. Anyway, I have a huge hole in my ceiling now and I don't know what to do. The bathroom is about 5x8ft. There is a ceiling fan. The "new" hole is right above the toilet, just under my upstairs neighbor sewage pipe. It looks dry now, but I need a professional opinion. I prefer to change the whole ceiling if possible.
A few weeks ago second floor shower drain was found to be clogged and water was going down slowly. Husband continued to use shower and caused bathroom flooding a few times. Husband unclogged shower drain a week ago and that has been fine, but the tile besides the shower now squeaks whenever you step on it (image 1). In addition, the corresponding ceiling on the first floor is showing cracks (image 2). Is this serious? If so, how long and how much would it cost to fix this?
Thanks a lot!
The sloped roof was just replaced due to moisture/seepage that was happening prior to the replacement. The roof replacement caused the cracks on the attic ceiling that were caused by the seepage to spread. I just want the plaster fixed -- I'm not even concerned about the original texture being matched.
I have one room that is 73ft x 30ft by 9ft H AND 3 HALLWAYS THAT AMOUNTS TO +- 500 SFT TO have a new t bar suspended ceiling, only the big room will have a 12x12 new bulkhead (73'+73'+30+30')that is the perimeter of the room.
Please quote the installation and materials, quote the bulkhead separately.
The tiles are 2'x2' and are contractor standard with groove all around the tile to sink in.
Thanks
Emilio
We just moved into a new 2 beedroom downtown toronto condo (king and spadina) with exposed concrete 9' ceilings.
We would like to finish the ceiling in the living room and both bedrooms with very low profile steel framing and drywall. Also to have 6 pot lights in the living room and possibly pot lights in the spare bedroom and LED lights in the master.
We would like to get a quotation for this job, there won't be much furniture in the place.
The work is on the second floor. Previously we have experienced roof leaks which have caused portion of the ceiling (see pics) to cause damage to the ceiling. We believe that due to the water leak electrical elements such as the lights and other electrical fixtures in the kitchen have faltered. We require a handy man to visit the site and provide a proposal to make repairs to the ceiling and to the damaged electrical elements of the unit. The roof leak has since been repaired.
We are an organization with 15 sites throughout the Toronto area including Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan and Markham. Although we have an immediate requirements to make the necessary repairs to the current condition as noted above we are also looking to find a company that can assist us with a number of small to medium size projects that would include plumbing, electrical and other €œhandy man€ related repairs. Perhaps this would be an opportunity to begin a long term relationship with a company that can deliver such services.
HI
I have a small condo downtown (500 sqf). I scrapped all the popcorn ceiling in the living room (probably 20X15) and its now directly on concrete and painted white. in the same room there is the kitchen area, which already had a smooth ceiling. There is a small area in the bedroom that still has popcorn (probably 6ft X 6Ft)
The work i would like to do is as such :
- in the living room, smooth the ceiling AND build a section of the ceiling that would be slightly lower, just so that we can install spotlights in it.
- in the bedroom, remove the popcorn on the section and smooth the ceiling
-there is also a small section of wall that has a permanent crack and i would like to fix it, the crack is about 2 feet long
My tenant is moving out July 15, and I would hope for the work to be completed ASAP after July 15.
How much will it cost to have the existing popcorn and plaster removed from a ceiling and new drywall, taping, mud and sanding done on the ceiling only? The room is 8 ft x 10 ft, ceiling is just under 8ft high, located in Toronto. Some of the plaster/stucco has been separating from the ceiling for years and recently cracked. We have removed most of this separating part. There does not appear to be any moisture, leaks or water damage, it appears to be simply age (and vibrations? We live near a train)
Restaurant in Toronto has a Air Grille attached to the Ceiling of the dining room that has become unattached from the Ceiling drywall and is falling. Ceiling is about 40ft high and job will require scaffolding. Restaurant is in an old 1918 Historical bank building. Need a company to come in and look at the project and give quote for Repair to be sent to our Head Office.
Please contact via E-mail or Phone to set up a time to look at repair
I am looking to get my ceiling fixed. It seems to be getting stains due to leaks from the bathroom right above it. The bathroom however looks relatively dry and I could not figure out whether it's the bathtub or the toilet or the sink that's the problem. I would like to get an estimate if possible of what this might cost as well as the timeframe for a project like this. Thank you.
The ceiling in our dining room was damaged by water, was torn out to the bare rafters, and now we would like to repair/rebuild it.
The ceiling is 14 feet 8 inches by 12 feet 6 inches in size (approximately), and is covered by its own roof. - no roof work is required.
This is a private residence, I am the owner, and I would like to begin work no later than February of the new year (2016).
Please contact me to review the job and prepare a quotation/estimate.
Thank you for your interest.
Greg
Hi there,
I'm moving into a house (80-90 yrs) and want to redo some of the ceilings. Ideally would like this project done within the next 2.5 weeks.
1) Kitchen Ceiling (10' x 18')
- Flat drywall ceiling needs to be re-done due to hole (3' x 4' hole) in ceiling. Ceiling also contains pot lights that are not up to code.
2) Bedroom (13' x 13') with Popcorn ceiling that has some old water damage (2' x 1')
- Would like entire ceiling to be flat (re-drywall entire ceiling)
- There is one wall in the room (13' W x 8' H) with a window ( 5'10" W x 4' H) with some water damage. Needs to be re-drywalled.
- Would like separate quote for placing new hardwood floors for this room (existing is old hardwood floor)
3) Living room (13' 7" x 8' 5") with Popcorn ceiling
- Would like entire ceiling to be flat (re-drywall entire ceiling)
- There is some duct work (popcorned as well) that runs along the long side (13') that we would like flat as well
- Would like separate quote for placing new hardwood floors for this room (existing is old hardwood floor)
Don't know exactly. There is an addition on the back of the house that is leaking from the ceiling on the back wall. The weird thing is that a new roof was put on last year. Also the wall behind the kitchen fridge is damp and soaked in some spots, have no clue why that is happening, thinking water is getting in from top of the window sil from the window beside it. need someone to locate the leaking problem and repair it.
Thank you,
Mike :)
We recently repaired a leak in a small 60 square foot bedroom. A hole in the damaged ceiling revealed that years ago a drywall ceiling was plastered onto the original ceiling. The scope would involve: Remove both existing layers of ceiling to exposeceiling joists. Install insulation & vapour barrier if needed. Re-drywall & finish tape to a paint ready finish. Ceiling to be tied in to the walls using tape. Looking for estimates quote on the above scope.
We had the ceiling repaired many years ago. Rather than replacing the old ceiling, the contractors simply put another ceiling on top. I want both ceilings removed and a new drywall ceiling installed. It is a small bedroom about 8 feet by 7.5 feet. Do you paint the ceiling as well? We are planning to renovate the bedroom and need to do the ceiling first. There is a ceiling fan in the room. I am the home owner.
We have already done all the demolition and prep work. We want to vault or have a cathedral style ceiling. We need someone who is experienced in structure work. The cottage is approximately 25 by 35 feet and 2 bedroom (800 sf total). We want to maintain one part of ceiling area as a small loft. The rest all open to give it a bigger feel. We supply all material. Job should not take more than 30 hours or 1 week max. We have provided pictures of ceiling requiring vaulting. We will also require windows and doors to be installed. Already have windows and doors. Project is ready to start asap.

We're working on a Downtown Toronto site and need a subcontractor to install Tbars on the ceiling. its roughly 350 sqft. T-bars are purchased. Only ceiling panels needed (roughly 36 of them, standard type).
This is not a huge job, and all light fixtures will be installed by the electrician (14 fluorescent lights + several pot lights + Projector)
The ceiling is currently bare (with only one long T-bar going horizontally)
Requirements:
1. WSIB Clearance
2. Appropriate footwear + Clothing + Headgear
This is a government-funded community center reasonable prices only. Depending on Quality of work, could be an ongoing relationship.

There is a small popcorn area in my condo that I would like to scrape it off and install some molding. The dimensions are 4 feet by 4.4.
